Hi Nick, Congrats from me too on a great job. I loaded it tonight on my Altronics Maximite with V3.1 and everything worked first go. Managed to get a score of 2300 using the keyboard. I've got one of the $1 Nunchucks though so I'll hook that up tomorrow! BTW will it run OK if the files are put in a separate folder rather than the root? Greg |

Let me know how you go with the nunchuk, tell me if it works at the i2c 400Khz setting. My original Nintendo Nunchuk doesn't, only at 100Khz. Yes, it works in any folder you put it into. Nick |

Thanks darthmite. You know it was you who suggested I try loading the screen into a font file. I'm eagerly looking forward to your new game. |

This is just absolutely fantastic Nick. Sophisticated, professional programs like this was something that I could have only dreamt of in the early days. MaxMan illustrates the fact that you need good programming to turn an interesting computer idea into something useful and an addictive hit. You and darthmite are my heroes! Congratulations. While I humbly accept all the kudos and bathe in my new found fame and fortune... ...er..ok, maybe just fame... The goal of creating MaxMan was to showcase the capabilities of this little "Aussie" homebrew computer that Geoff has created. I hope that MaxMan highlights the potential and possibilities of programming for this computer and encourages others to develop software for it. You won't get rich from it but it's a lot of fun. Very good Andrew. Was that using version 1.1? Did you use a joystick (if so which one)? Should the game be made harder? |

Hi folks, I just lost control of Maxman. That is I can't use the keyboard while in VGA mode. I can't get to my files on my MM SM1 unless I'm using the USB port. Then my keyboard input works. Ideas? My MM is connected to my PC via usb.Thank you |

Hi elchucko By keyaboard, do you mean the keyboard plugged into your PC, or a keyboard plugged into the Maximite? Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

Runs fine on my Altronics Maximite with VGA and keyboard control. Congratulations, Nick, on a very professional job. I will add it to MMLib.javascript:AddSmileyIcon('') Cheers, Hugh |

Hi Nick, OK got it all happening. Using my Altronics Maximite with MM v3.1 & VGA it works at 100Khz with 10K pullups but not 400KHz. With 2K pullups it's a little ripper at 400KHz. My $1 Nunchuck has different colour wires again - they're marked on the PCB inside the Nunchuck too. ..............MM Pin....IDC Skt Posn Vdd...Red.....+3.3V.....24 Gnd...White...GND.......26 SCL...Green...13........8 SDA...Blue....12........6 I cut the connector off and wired mine to pins. They're inserted into an IDC socket on the end of a 200mm length of 26 conductor flat cable - and the other end is connected to the Maximite's I/O connector using another IDC socket. There's another IDC socket halfway along the flat cable and I've connected the pullup resistors to +3.3V from that via a solderless board. I'm surprised it's going so well at 400 KHz considering the rather messy wiring - I'll tidy it up shortly. Greg |

G'day Nick Yes, using 1.1 using the arrow keys on the key board .. have yet to get myself one of these cheapo Ebay nun-chucks to fiddle with. I reckon the game "hardness" is about right. Up to level 8 to get to 78k+ and probably way too much time spent playing the game anyway. I've got it set up here on its own monitor and keyboard and because I'm powering from USB from my main PC it "comes to life " each time I use the PC. So I have to play a game of course !!!! I'm not a gamer at all, so Id reckon there'd be others out there that'll crack the 100k before too long. Regards .. Andrew |

Nick, Further to my post just above. I've just realised I hadn't moved the pullups to the correct pins after I moved the SCL & SDA leads to the correct pins (got them wrong at first go). Consequently the 10K Vs 2K pullups were not even operational! I've now found that MaxMan V1.1 runs fine using the $1 Nunchuck at both 100 & 400KHz on my Altronics MaxiMite (with V3.1 and VGA) without added pullups! I opened the Nunchuck up again and can see two 1.8K resistors in a location that suggests they may be doing the job, but unfortunately I can't trace them properly to be sure since the traces go under a black blob of epoxy covering the main chip. There's no other pullups on my system so guess that must be the case. I'm not sure what happened when I was testing it previously. I think I must have gotten the sequence of changing pins/resistors and running the program up the creek somewhere and assumed the previous conclusion - which seemed logical! Oh well, that's embarrassing but the outcome is good. Greg |
