If you want better fuel economy, adjust the fuel/air mixture till its so lean the exhaust valves are glowing. That’s all that you're doing with your gas input, except you've come up with the most complicated and inefficient way of doing it. Your gas input is causing the 0xygen sensor to lean back the mix.

sPuDd..

It should work ...in theory

Thanks for the laugh

Greenbelt:

This may be a bit 'off-topic' but I'm curious and judging from your stated
experience, you'd be the one most likely to know.

I have heard that some of the gasoline injected into the cylinder is used to
cool the burn, acting somewhat as a heat sink. Apparently, if the piston,
cylinder, valves and rings were made of Monel or some other metal
impervious to heat, the fuel-air ratio could be slimmed down to just about
nothing.

Any truth to this or is it just another 'urban legend'?

MacGyver;

Yes, extra fuel in the combustion chamber will cool the cylinder.
Engine control units (computer controlled fuel system) will use this procedure to compensate for extremely low octane fuel to prevent detonation.
About the lean ratio, No.
Even if the engine metal could handle the higher temperature. there is a point where the engine will not run.
The spark plug arc may bridge a couple dozen fuel molecules but they are so far apart that the heat from their burn is insuficient to light off its neighbor. this is why a lean mix causes rough running mis firing, Its also why a lean engine runs hot, When F/A ratio exceeds 20 the fuel burn is much slower this gives the same effect as retarded spark because the fuel is burning in the cylinder way down. If you compensate by advancing the spark The compression stroke will hold the fuel molecules close together, they will burn quickly and overheat the cylinder head. now we have detonation. If you want a lean mix, try a diesel, The compression here will burn the molecules even if there are only 1. Not much power I'd guess.

Boosters;
Hydrogen is not a molicule, Nor is Oxygen, The two gases are ready to make water when the spark hits them.(Ionize), Petrol must break down to separate the hydrogen from the carbon before its structure can change to a different substance. This is where the hydrogen gets its high burn
rate. Note, The booster supplies free oxygen to the fuel charge, when this is added to atmospheric oxygen there is no change in the fuel/air mix, there is exactly one oxygen atom for each two hydrogen atoms. When hydrogen is mixed with petrol like pepper on white gravy It can ignite it's neighbor, "Petrol or Hydrogen" up to ten times faster than the petrol, this is how the charge can burn so quickly. Hydrogen being the smallest element there are billions in a micro liter.

but part of it may also be
incorrect.-----Roe

I am in the same boat

a hydrogen generator is a very good backshed project

during the year generate the inefficient hydrogen for use as a multiuse backup fuel

ie )

use to power a scooter that is hardy used

use to power backup power generator for when batteries fail

I am planing on making one with solar / wind

but storage / transport is my greatest concern

I can either make one that is purely for creating hydrogen or make one that uses the by-product from charging batteries ..
