It occurred to me that this year is an Olympic year (winter, but still olympic) and there are many theme songs that went with previous years. Here are a few that I remember.
Fanfare for the common man
The 1984 theme by John Williams
Chariots of Fire
Friends for Life This one took a while to find as I could only vaguely remember it as a duet on something about amigos forever.
Moscow by Ghengis Khan I remember this one because everyone blackballed the ruskies for invading Afghanistan, where for the last decade "we" have invaded. Go figure.

Easy to do with the help of the free YTD (YouTube Downloader)

It can be easily used to copy and paste the link of the video, and download the video to your computer. It always bypasses any ads, and only goes for the video, which is also very nice, if any vid has ads in front of it.

I use YTD for all my vids I want to save. You DO NOT need a YT account for this to work, just copy the link to YTD, and away you go. Once you have copied the link, generally you just move the mouse over the download link text box, and the link will be auto-pasted there for you.

There is the pro version, which allows more then three downloads at once, but the free version is suitable for most people, and it is all I use.

Eh Bruce,
If you like mate I can put a heap of MP3's onto a 16 gig usb stick and send it up to you. Years ago when we were on ISDN our ol' mate Zeus(RIP) sent me the BacoBen top 500 and a heap of other great music. So basically with that huge playlist just get say a 4 gig usb stick and transfer over the songs you want to listen too for the day. Too easy mate.

Cheers Bryan

Hi Bryan , how are you ,was thinking about you last night ..

Yep, I'd like that usb music stick ,,and I'll put some money in your account -think I still have it. give me a call on Skype.

I just came out of hospital yesterday. Had a very bad 4 days with blocked bladder due to blood clot ,,maybe caused by the blood thinner ,used because of my heart pacemaker. The very most horrific pain in my life ,ambulance came at 2 am last thursday ,rushed me to gols coast hospital.

Still very sore from invasive proceedures that are horrific, they don't give you anesthestic,,just a bit of local.

You CAN, but it starts to get a bit more involved, as you have to import the MP4 file from YTD into a compatible audio editor software like GoldWave, then save the sound-only part of it to a MP3 file. You can also use audio software to record from the system mixer, which will re-record the audio to a sound file, as you playback the video file on another player like VLC.

Probably easier to take Bryan up on his offer!

With YTD you can save audio only as mp3, works a treat, then go into settings nominate folder to save in. Bob`s your uncle.Edited by norcold 2014-03-12

Just did a quick check on songs already posted and noticed that I doubled up on a couple, sorry about that but great songs deserve more than one playing.
Anyway, here is a song featuring some great sax, Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty
From a big man in music, Bat out of hell by Meatloaf
Not from my youth but I still enjoyed it. Behind Blue Eyes by Limp Bizket
A song played by a guitar god, Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits

Yes, what a lovely refreshing change from the bickering, tit for tat ego driven arguments that have tried to split this great forum .

Lets hear the music, get into the workshop, start up the REAL discussion ,,wind, solar, power and electronics ..

Give the politics a rest , please...

Great music is great music.

Here is a pleasant song, Clair by Gilbert O'Sullivan
Here is a song I want played at my funeral, Season in the Sun by Terry Jacks
Now for some pleasant harmonies, Sounds of Silence by Simeon and Garfunkel
When I first heard this song, I imaged knights wearing armour made of satin, boy was I wrong. Nights in White Satin by the Moody Blues
An interesting song, Golden Brown by The Stranglers
A religious song that was quite popular, The Lord's Prayer by Janet Mead
A contemplative song taken over by anti war sentiments, Reflections of My Life by The Marmalade
Finally another upbeat "religious" song, Dominique by The Singing Nun

"Music, food for the soul;
Bon Appertit"

Yeah, memories, then one day you wake up realising your sleeping with a grand ma, worse you think about it and realise your very comfortable with that. Hell what was all that hormone stuff about.

Life tis lovely "you know your soaking in it".

Knights in white satin

Above is the smooching last dance song from my era. If you didn`t get to take her home after this number, good chance you picked up a barbecue chook on way home, then eat the bloody lot in frustration. It was a 2 to 3 hour drive to dance halls from my location in those days.

Yes, great song.

Crikey, things have changed. These days it is all text message:

Fancy a quickie?
OK.

That's about it.

Where has ROMANCE gone?(rhetorical)

GUYS - you are probably historically wanting the same thing as me(SEX!), but now days, there seems to be more of a txt mentality in that sex is so casual that it becomes nothing more then getting it on. There was a time, when guys WANTED to impress a girl, and wanted to WIN her love - now it is all about getting laid, and what love or attraction that there was, has been sidelined. *sigh* I guess I am just an old romantic at heart.
