Sean at gentry had put different sticker on top of this inverter it was the only one he had at the time and it was for a power tank 5000w. He told me when he got some 8,000 Watt stickers he would send me one I now have the new sticker to put over this so This is actually in his opinion better labeled as a 8000 watt unit And when you watch his videos you will see exactly what these units can do and not do for a continuous wattage my personal opinion would be somewhere around 4 to 5,000 watts I have never used this unit besides just testing to make sure it works With a lot of help from poida the great and a lot of others on this form I got my homemade inverter working before I had to use this unit In my personal opinion I would not trust a power jack inverter as far as I can throw it that is without modifications from some of the greats on here The Transformer that is in this unit is a little over 10 lb heavier then the other 8000 Watt power jack inverter I have It also has eight more mosfets then the other 8000 watt power jack inverter As you can see from the original sticker this unit came from the factory as a 15000 watt unit Sean has integrity and would not tell you that this unit is a 15000 watt unit he would tell you to watch his videos on the subject And that is the same with me I would tell someone to watch his videos and then they would have to come try this unit out for themselves then I will consider selling it to them that is why I have not put it on eBay a few hundred dollars it's not worth more to me than my integrity I would never want anyone to think that I ripped them off that's probably what this inverter would be good for if someone didn't come and try it out for themselves take the lid off of it and look at the components inside for themselves This inverter will most likely get a nano control board and Hy 4008 mosfets Thanks to Kent we all have the Gerber file for a new style mosfet board that will take the h y 4008 and don't have to pay a crazy amount to power jack for replacements If anyone does want the regular Factory replacements Sean sells them a lot cheaper than Power Jack and you get them a lot quicker also He has literally been over backwards to make sure that I am happy with anything that he has sold me and you just don't see that very often anymore so I support him 100% be warned i am good parrot but Dumber than a box of rocks |

Ben was it you who sent him the return inverter so nicely packed with 2x4? Looked like a work of art that you would do and have the ethics and drive to turn in for. It was very nice. |

Welcome Sean. There is a lot of interesting inverter projects both here at the backshed and on Field Lines. Sometimes it can be hard to keep up with all the new build projects under way. Robert |

HI BenandAmber, could you take a close up (photo) of your step down converter, I just want to compare mine with yours.. if its not too much trouble.. Thanks, |

The little PCB should be in next week sometime which is awesome Really appreciate Kentfielddude for Designing them It will be great not to have to depend on power jack for replacement mosfet boards The price will also be greatly reduced be warned i am good parrot but Dumber than a box of rocks |

The existing holes in heat sinks can be used or if you want your legs to be shorter you can drill new holes be warned i am good parrot but Dumber than a box of rocks |

I sent some off to POIDA the Great to be tested he has all of the equipment and actually knows what he's doing he will be 100% straight up and honest he won't sugarcoat it he'll just say how it is I sent them the other day it will take a few days to get there After they get there I'm not sure when he will have the time to try them out he is a very busy person and he's doing this just out of the goodness of his heart But I'm very excited to see how it goes also cross your fingers hopefully all goes well be warned i am good parrot but Dumber than a box of rocks |

Today I was a bit careless when I tested the Powerjack inverter. I have added a remote on/off control cable and I had a bit of a whoopsie. The remote cable plug was able to touch one of the primary winding connectors while running. And so, it comes time to replace the 4 MOS boards with those Ben&Amber sent me. I will show here how it all goes.... But first I need to buy a few metal film resistors tomorrow. the damage: how the HY4008 TO-247 package fits with Kent's PCBs using the existing tapped M3 holes - perfectly. and the leads need a little bend: wronger than a phone book full of wrong phone numbers |

How many millimeters do you think the mosfets need to be moved back? |

I have built all 4 boards and placed one HY4008 in each. No need to blow 4 or 8 at a time. I powered the power board alone using the nanoverter since the 10 pin connector is compatible. It ran OK but with a high idle current. This is normal. See here where I looked at the powerjack power board driven by the nanoverter before this blowup Once I installed the powerjack control board on top of the power board and then inside the inverter, it all seemed OK. It did not run. The LF-driver board LED is not lit up so probably some issue there. I tested the MY and NY SOT devices and one seems to be shorted. Ebay has one of these for sale, about $45 plus $88 postage. This is a ripoff. I ask people here: what devices are the MY and NY marked SOT smd devices? My first search hinted at "triode" FETs. What kind of beasts are they? Oztules, have you repaired these things and if so what did you use when the totem pole drive transistors need replacing? wronger than a phone book full of wrong phone numbers |

I replaced the 4 transistors with similar speed 50V 2A devices. No LED on the driver board and no pwm signal coming out to the MOSFET gates. The lf-controller board beeps after a little while. I think I will write this one off for now. I need to spend the time on things that I have the schematic and can replace the parts - home brew inverters. wronger than a phone book full of wrong phone numbers |
