Welcome to the Forum tinyt It will need to be supplied with +12v and +5v dc, plus requiring heatsinks, and possibly an output transformer. They say +380v dc, and that assumes that you are planning to have a 240v (or thereabouts) direct sine wave ac output without using any output transformer. While many people choose to do it that way, it is not without its risks, and at least in Australia an inverter MUST be fitted with an output transformer for compliance. Its not just bureaucratic hot air and legalistic BS either. What happens if your FETs short out and feed +380v dc (at high source current) into your home? Most electronic systems with switching power supplies will not care, but anything that uses a small mains transformer or induction motor will be toast. Any incandescent light bulbs are not going to survive 380v for very long either. I was unfortunate to experience this problem myself once. Burned out the small control transformers in three gas space heaters, my refrigerator, microwave oven, and a couple of wall packs. It was a real pain to repair it all, and very frustrating. EGP1000W board has a mix of both and was the cheapest sine board. Other than that I prefer the layout having FET on just one side and being able to use either TO-220 or . 247. It can be worked around. |

oh now I am even more confused, I got the EGS002 board and was going by this thread and the board in the OP of thes thread http://www.thebackshed.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=8220 I understood that is what I was being directed towards at the beginning of this thread. If thats the one you have spare it just seems easier than messing with vero board as I was going to. |

The twins is just simply 2 boards being etched at the same the same time to be cut later. It is not unusual to etch onto slightly larger board and trim down to size after. There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't. |

Dazza, remember that this unit is for isolated off grid. If you hook it to the house, and there is any chance of even high impedance battery to ground somewhere, it will drop from 240v to about 120v. To get around this you need an isolated supply to show the VFB a feedback voltage.... even a 12v tranny may work direct into the diode bridge.... you may have to twiddle it a bit then. It will work just fine then. It will work as is for an isolated installation ( only active and neutral output... no connecting neutral to ground until you put in a tranny to isolate. .........oztules Village idiot...or... just another hack out of his depth |

Thanks Oz the plan was to chase down a couple of dead GTI and rat them for the toroids and the capacitor bank and fets. feed from solar apx 60v and mains fed trans/toriod running around 48v to maintain continuous power. as a start this to feed my shed till happy with it and then look at feeding a few items from the house. |

Oztules looking at that link you gave that is for the next version of your board and from what I worked out the resistors circled are what needs to be removed? The cross is where the transformer low voltage winding now connect and the 240v wingdings go where the large cap is? Is there any way to fire this board up without a H bridge? assuming I only want to run between 1.5kw and 2kw with peaks upto 3kw when inductive motors start such as a evap aircon what FETs and how many would be suitable? in you orignal tests you used a single fet in each leg with a smallish load. I dont remember seeing a circuit for this? sorry for all the questions that you have most likely responded to multiple times already, The info is spread out in so many threads and piecing it together is not easy. |

I did not realize you were wanting to build a full inverter. I have boards that take 12 HY4008's but you could reduce that to 8. Your mods above are correct and the 12 fet board will work with the control board however why not just use the latest version of the control board? Hmmm I seem to have confused myself along the way with reading so many different pages and so many different Ideas. I got it in my head that using the original ozboard and going 48v was the way to go. my thought was to use warpspeeds idea but at a lower voltage was the way forward. My thoughts were to series parallel up my 4 30v 8amp panels to give me 60v 16amps and then rewinding a suitable salvaged GTI toriod to give 48v rectify as the back up for night time. Just looking at seeing this run on the bench at much reduced currents to start with. |
