http://www.noonco.com/edison/improvements.htm Nice find This link gives information on how to start from working home made model. 1Ah at 1.2V is not much, but with larger pieces of material and larger containers it will give more power. George |

Thanks Georgen, Have made the second long box and will recharge the second set early next week, they now have proper nickle I think, straps, look a lot more business like, Pic when I get them all balanced up. Interesting, the cases of these are all positive so the lugs on the sides have hard nylon buffers to maintain their individuality ! Cheers Mike |

Not NiFe but similar NiZn, was chasing 1.5v not 1.2v AA rechargeables for an application and came across these. http://www.powergenix.com/?q=battery-technology-history Seems Edison messed with these before NiFe. We come from the land downunder. Vic |

Now approaching 8 years and the Deacs are still going strong--- even though they must have been 40 years old to start with ! I'd really like to find some 850AH at the same price :))) Happy Christmas all Mike |

Good performance Mike I asked around some recycling places, some other places that had lots of different bits and pieces, but nobody knew what I was talking about, so out of luck for some old Edison batteries. Maybe somebody will open shop in Australia alongside "Tesla power wall", lithium batteries and AGM's' Merry Christmas to all too, suppose tad early, but time flies ... George |

looks like I only got 7 years out of my first mix getting under my 40kwhr ~2 days backup power for the aquaponics system and having problems finding KOH in QLD now covid seems to have closed down a lot of places ... this time around will be adding lithium / oil to the mix needing at least 180kg KOH , 15kg lithium think I only paid $30 / 20kg bag now all I can find is over $100 in Vic or average of $30 / kg and no lithium anywhere and going to make a solar distiller , filtered rain water still put in a lot of unnecessary gunk speaking of Tesla I have 2x remaining battery module packs for sale 24v 6s74p 444 x 18650 cells ~5kw its a real catch 22 ni-fe costs 3x as much as deep cycle batteries 2x the price of lithium cells they might last a life time , but geez the maintaince as you get older is hard yakka not looking forward to moving 2.5tons swapping over the electrolite I guess its still half the weight lifing moving them every decade vs deepcycle tip runs and my 48v 1000ah system owed me $10k once built , ~20kw / ~$5 a day it paid it's self off Edited 2020-10-27 06:11 by MasterCATZ |

It must cross between inflation and green "bonus". Not sure if possible, but did it cross your mind to run system on NaOH? George |

oh yeh ..NaOH is better for QLD where its warmer .. maybe that is what I used last time ? Caustic Soda is defiantly cheaper than KOH ... I might be importing some LiOH Lithium Hydroxide Monohydrate Powder so if anyone else is interested let me know or if you have 15kg spare ... Edited 2020-10-28 10:17 by MasterCATZ |
