Hi, that is the challenge. It took me more then a few tries to make it work. Don't give up, it can be done. Using the drive shaft as a alignment tool helps.

Hi I have started some time ago with a similar LG motor. Here is a photograph of an U-shaped box with two plumber block bearings carrying the shaft. The stator coils are attached to one face of the box and the shaft has a plate to which the magnet rotor is attached. The blades are home-made PVC cut from a blue PVC pipe. At this stage there is no tail yet!

Hi, nice results. Thanks for posting. What is your average daily wind speed? Did you rewire the stator? Do you have any pictures of the magnet rotor hub?

Hi, I have since moved from that location and have no idea what the wind speed was. A bit more than a breeze!

I did some mods on the stator. I split all three phases right in the middle and star-connected (Y-connected) each half such that there is a 180 degrees shift between them (apart from the fact that each half is a 3-phase system in its own right with 120 degrees between phases); thus creating a 6-phase alternator. Each half is then rectified by a 3-phase bridge rectifier and the resulting DC of each is connected in parallel with each other.

I am still busy with solar at the moment and the wind project is shelved for a while, but I'll start again some time and will provide more details.

  govertical said   bronze bushing

shaft collar

Hi, this may help with the parts you may need. Bronze bushing will replace the bearing and a few shaft collars could be glued to the wood to create a hub with set screw to mount the mag hub to the drive shaft. I look forward toward your results and these are just suggestions. Cheers.

Place a small piece of copper under the set screw and it will prevent the set screw from marking the drive shaft. It will make it easier to disassemble.

When not using the generator I leave the plastic shim between the magnets and the stator, it helps keep everything centered while in storage.

Hi

Thinks are not easy :D

Can you tell what kind of plastic shim? I can't find a suitable plastic over here. And what is the thickness?

Thanks

Ricardo

I can't put it centered enough so that it rotates easily. There's always some magnets that stuck to the coils.

Āt this point i'm ready to buy another set but this time with the shaft and other pieces or a full machine....

Here are some pictures

Yes, but things weren't going well . And i've marked the place where the hub was and then secured it a few milimeters above, but it didn't work.

Maybe i'm using "small" stuff? The shaft is 12mm and the hub is not very big

Hi, did you over size the outer diameter bolt holes so you can move the rotor a small amount?

Not with the rotor but with the hub itself.

Shim

Hi, I just use a shim to center the stator to the rotor.
