Hi elchucko,

It is during that time, when the progress bar etc is not moving that you need to start the transfer at the Maximite end by entering: xmodem receive "filename.bas"

This is why I suggested entering this on the maximite first but not to press enter and execute the command until you first start the xmodem transfer on the PC.

Then the PC will start transferring the file, using this method it dosn't need to be a text file as it copies direct to the sdcard. using copy and paste method or using the transfer text file method obviously it has to be a text file.

Hope this clears it up for you,

Andrew

It may pay to download MMIDE and give it a try, I find it so easy:

Don: MMIDE doesn't do the XMODEM transfer stuff, yet. Just the BASIC programs.

Been suffering funerals, overwork, and now relatives for Thanksgiving (U.S.). I can't wait to get back to working on it.

OH, OK, thanks CG.

I thought we would only be running filename.bas from the drives at this point. I have missed something haven't I?

Cheers Don...

You can log to the drive, too. You can store a BMP on drive A:. You can read poetry from that internal drive. All of the things you can do to and from B:.

I've loaded MMIDE. It takes a good 30 sec or more before the program is loaded. There is a drop down in the upper left corner which shows a default of "com3". I select "com6". It takes several seconds before it displays com6. I usually have to do this a couple of times before the com6 setting "takes". I select a file on the PC. It transfers (hex) to the MMIDE window. It shows the listing of the Basic program I want to move to the Maximite. Sometimes it shows "new". Sometimes MMIDE shows "not responding". How do I move this file to the MM?

Elchucko: There is something really wrong happening there. There should not be such slow stuff happening. I don't know what the issue could be, though.

I would think that if there is a corruption of the download of MMIDE that the program would not run correctly at all. Do you have another machine that you can try MMIDE on?Edited by CircuitGizmos 2011-11-25

I did remove MMIDE from my PC and then reloaded with the same results. I'm using Windows7. I now have Hyper Terminal, MMIDE and Tera Term installed on my PC. MMIDE does look to be easier to use if I can get it to function correctly. Taking it one step at a time, when I want to change the com port setting it takes over 30 seconds to happen. Sometimes I get a "program not responding". Then finally I get it to change to com6.

When I get a chance to revisit the program, I'll see if there is anything I can determine from my end.

When I select a Basic file to load from the PC the MMIDE screen displays "new", nothing else.

OK, I got to save a file to the MM SD card. Now if I can figure out the slow load of the program and slow com selection I'll be good to go. Thank you kindly for your assistance!

CG may have only a handful of users on MMIDE, but no one has reported the same problems as you Chuck.

Is the problem that it is slow on all terminal programs?
So it wouldn't matter if it was Terraterm, MMIDE, PuTTY, or anything else.

I would suggest trying another PC if you haven't tried one already, and if the problem vanishes, then your trouble shooting will be heading in a different direction.

EDIT: ohhps CG mentioned another PC. BTW I am running W7-64 with no problems.

Tera Term as an example has no problem loading and connecting to a com post. Hyper Terminal is also fast. There appears to be an issue with com port hand shake?
