Hi smithy, it would be an interesting build, but for my situation not real practical as i live about 3/4 of an hours drive inland from the west end of the great ocean road with only a few small hills in between. In a few months time the southwesterlys will start blowing through regularly from the southern ocean. The fine weather sailing blades will get packed away in the shed, and what will replace them will probebly be a couple of lenths of weather board with the flat sides glued together with liqued nails and bolted onto the mill with large body washers, with no moving parts apart from the main shaft.
Now that the kids have gone back to school, i should have a bit more spare time on my hands so the tower should go up shortly.

Hi all I thought i would give you an update on where im at with the mill.
Tower is up which is pretty stable standing alone, but i have added some stay wires which just need to be tentioned up when the footings harden up a bit. The mill has been asembled on the tower apart from the blades and the magnet rotor which are staying of untill i get the first stage of the wiring completed. The mill is spinning with the wind blowing on the bear rotor arms this wont happen when i attach the magnet rotor but at the moment its giving me good inspiration. I have some bracing sorted out to help support the blades. I hope to have some more pictures up soon but i need to wait a few days as we have gone over on our internet usage, we might need a bigger plan, and hopfully soon i will be collecting some output figures. I have found there is a lot more work setting the Mill up than building it, but the thought of getting a bit of free power is a great motivator.

All the best

Dean
