tinyt are very close especially from a picture Please excuse my messy scratchpad The little Notepad is just the formula I used to come up with the turns per volt
I was trying to beat Staregazer at coming up with the Volts for turn first
Yes everything ends up being a competition between the two of us
he blows me and everyone I've ever met out of the water at being a businessman but
I am very well-rounded in this world I can do a little bit of anything
The reason I put this embarrassing scratchpad on here
is to have the true professionals have a look at it
To make sure I'm doing things right remember

I took apart smaller toroids and wound them all together on a sewer pipe
and used automotive fiberglass epoxy to glue it all together
seem to work okay I think you could make a toroid as big as you wanted to
a little hard to get it tightly packed but manageable
The one I made has to fit in a power jack case or I would have made it gigantic
You can make the center hole whatever size you want Giant Center hole for giant wire if you have the space in the case you're going to put it in

I have a few more small Transformers
but another friend kind of has them on hold
don't know if she's going to use them or not yet
if she don't use them I could send them to you maybe and get you a start anyway so you wouldn't have to find as many
I read somewhere long ago a guy using a type of wire kind of like electric fence wire and made a big core had good luck out of it if

I'm sorry for the confusion that would be absolutely awesome if somebody could find a supplier of raw silicon steel
I would like to try the wire idea a certain type of wire makes good Transformers the wire has soft in the its named
So if any of the more experienced people on here have a good idea what kind of wire it is I don't care to experiment a little bitbe warned i am good parrot but Dumber than a box of rocks

Ben, there was something called soft Iron wire - I think that is the name you are looking for. With regard to its efficiency I cant comment but it was also used as the "magnetic" core for some old telephony stuff, if you get the "blackened" version - not sure if its painted or chemically treated it might reduce eddy current issues. It was also used for flower arrangements I believe, so a florist might help in sourcing it.If at first you dont succeed, I suggest you avoid sky diving.... Cheers Mike

There are many on alibaba. Basically you can get strips of silicon steel as leftovers from power transformer (MegaWatt range) core manufacturing. Unfortunately for you guys in USA the issue is, that core manufacturing is not done in USA anymore and has been outsourced abroad. This is the reason that Ben has had to make his transformer by scavanging silicon steel strip from smaller surplus transformers. Whilst the outcome of this would be almost 90-95% of a transformer made from a single running strip yet it would require more labour. I believe both Ben and Amber are more than willing to put in that labour. An added benefit which is normally not counted, is that it will be an inverter/transformer they would both love and take immense pride in.
Scavenging cores like Ben and Amber, is also expensive because the copper wire (the most expensive part of the transformer) is highly likely to be cut and wasted, and can only be sold subsequently as scrap.
So if you guys are willing to foot the shipping cost I can put you through to a person who exactly does this in Pakistan. He buys bulk silicon CRGO sheet scrap strips and manufactures AVRs for the local market using toroidal autotransformer topology. See if you can do business.

Sounds awesome I like just talking to people from other countries
The different cultures what I found out so far is all of us are a lot more alike than different
