Hi ztoti,

Looks like a nice board. Can I suggest you start a new thread relating to it rather than sit on the back of this one so that when posts are placed here we know whether they relate to your new module or my existing 44-pin MicroMite Module.

Just to let you know that I can't get the pdf link to show even when removing the odd space.

So please advise how much this unit costs (assuming it is for general sale), and if so, timescales for delivery.

I would like to see a circuit diagram to check the LiPo charging circuit as this has to be very carefully designed to avoid exploding batteries (even when using dedicated chips). Check YouTube to see what I mean (even Sony got it wrong on their laptops if you remember!). If, as I hope, it is safe, then I would like to order a pre-assembled module (cost dependant) on a confirmed final layout PCB.

Nice work . . . .

Regards,

Phil

Hi WhiteWizzard, I cannot for the life of me find the data sheet you made for the 44 pin board. I am going to use it in a project and am not clear as to powering it, not using the usb, but I would like to use the 5v. Can I put 5v to the 5v on the 3 pin header or is that only output from the board? Thanks for your help and a great product!

Hi Viscomjim,

Yes, you can supply an external 5v supply to the 5v pin on the 3-way header.

To be safe, remove the red jumper next to the USB socket. This will prevent the 'external' 5v on the 3-way header from passing to the USB (and beyond if you have a USB lead accidentally plugged in).

The 3v3 pin on the 3-way header should be regarded only as an output - regulated by the onboard LDO (if mounted).

Just to make you aware, I have recently launched a low cost 44-pin MicroMite Lite which comprises of a TQFP PIC32 on the same PCB that you have along with the necessary caps; it does not have any of the USB circuitry mounted onboard. Think of it as an adaptor board to make a simple 44-pin MicroMite with a DIP footprint. This only requires a 3v3 supply - typically I use an external MCP1700 3v3 LDO + caps - a real low cost way to have 33 I/Os.

Hope the above answers your query. I will aim to put the data sheet as a download on the website in the coming days!

Regards,
Phil

Hi White,

Thanks for that. Quick question, If I use the 5v in to power unit, if I have to make a code change, do I need to disconnect the external 5v and then plug in the usb, or can I remove the jumper and do that? Sorry for the confusion.

Just keep the jumper removed so that the external 5v never 'conflicts' with 5v coming in from USB.

You can then make code changes as required; when finished simply remove USB lead!
