Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Its easier to ask forgiveness than to seek permission!

I do - for remote access to alarm systems.
Most of the older ones run at 300bd but the newer ones are often 2400 or even 9600 !!!!

Ok On Topic now, Who uses Dialup anymore (besides Sparkey)

Mick

I forgot the smiley at the end of it,

.... as Don can atest..

We use 9600 baud dialup connections for 95% of all race meetings held in Victoria.

Regards,

Mick

PS. I would still hate to use dialup for internet though....

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but can the maximite control the Numlock, Capslock and Scroll-lock leds on the keyboard - either by the system or under user control?

I just Googled PICAXE and found the following.

PC keyboardThe 18A, 18M, 28A and the X-range all provide the ability to interface to a PC keyboard using the KEYIN and KEYLED commands.

These two commands respectively determine which key was pressed on a PC keyboard through its scan code and control the setting of the keyboard LEDs. The KEYLED command can be used to flash the keyboard LEDs to indicate when a key press has been received.

Maybe a wish Don, command to control Keyboard LEDs. KEYLED n(x)
where n is 1, 2 or 3 for the three LEDS and x is (1) on or (0) off.

Any thoughts......

Interesting, 3 LEDs sitting there doing basically nothing.

Of course you need a keyboard plugged in to take advantage of it.
Perhaps for debugging purposes. At least a flashing LED demo program.

Some one will come up with a serious app. I'm sure.

Don: You can take "serial" and perhaps other completed things off of the wish list.

I would like to see improvements to editing. Something close to a full-screen editor would be great, but even support for the keyboard arrow keys would be a big help.

Yes will do, thanks,

I have had people ask me to place items on the wish list, and never had a single vote on them, so it makes you wonder at times.

I'll remove serial at least.

And I just removed removed I2C.

Anyone see anything else that shouldn't be there now?

:::::::: OK I HAVE AN IDEA :::::::::::

HOW ABOUT A MAXI` "TEST BOARD" THAT PLUGS STRAIGHT INTO THE I/O PINS THAT WILL CHECK PORTS COMM`S ETC..ETC..

ALSO NEEDED A TEST PROGRAM THAT WHEN GEOFF BRINGS OUT A NEW "FIRM" IT COULD BE RUN ON THE MAXI""'

i think that a test board of this magnitude would take alot of the time spent and frustration knowing full well "if there is a problem with your board or your code" that this will pin point some or even the whole problem....

Hey Don

Ray, Keith, and John would like 1-Wire communication interfacing with the Maximite, please.

I'm sure many others will appreciate this option as well.

http://www.themaximitecomputer.com/wish-list-priority-level- poll/

have added it, thanks.

BTW
if anyone can see items in the wish list that now shouldn't be there, please let me know, as many items have already been added.

BTW2
I have added items for members, and some of them don't even get a single vote, so if you want it added, please vote.

PS
I am running on a mobile notebook for the next few weeks, so my responses may be delayed.

I now have to go and do battle with Qantas. An airport strike today, and I am on my way to Darwin to visit children and grand children.

Hope this wish is not already on the list... had a brief look at the poll, but couldn't see it:

Software control of the power pins on the 26-way header. Something like:

SETPIN PWR, 0 ' Power Off
SETPIN PWR, 1 ' Power On

That will require a hardware modification (Not just firmware)
This best done by using a I/O pin to switch a FET or Relay etc...
That can then provice power to your external circuit

Although there has been a software version with this, I wanted to add it to the official wishlist.

use the 2 remaining pwm outputs for pwm, single frequency selectable up to 30khz at least with individual duty cycles.

Output is possible by reusing 2 of the grounds on the IDC connector.
