Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

From an ignorant newbie far away - what is an HWS?

OMG I can actually give an answer!!

He means Hot Water System.
Assuming it's electric.

If anybody is interested I found a source of Toroid cores here in Australia the biggest is 7500 VA 180/300/80.

Price is just under $400AUD delivered. This is just a bare core, also getting prices with windings completed.

For mounting the control or fan boards I have 4MM holes with the 6.3mm long version of these in mind for mounting.

For the Power Board I use 18 MM M4 Brass stand offs.

They allow space for the negative power cable soldered to the back of the PCB. Easy way to do it is use the PCB as a template and drill the 8 4mm holes in the case then screw in the standoffs, then when fitting the power board just screw 10MM M4 screws through the board into the standoffs..

Wow Gary. If you can organise toroids (even bare) you truly will be underway for a kitset. I'm following this with great interest.

Aerosharps seem to be getting scarce, also I am looking at a global solution. You can buy cores and completed Toroids from China but freight is a killer and most manufacturers there only want to work with large numbers. The contact I have found is here in Australia and the cores are made here also.

PCBs have been sent via Express Post to everyone except one person who I am waiting to give me their address.

One thing I need to mention is the 7k5 Resistor on the control board needs to be changed to a 3K9 if you are using a 12V transformer. 7K5 is from Oztules original version where he was using a 14V transformer.

One little issue has come up but no big deal, I had allowed for a larger drop down resistor but the 10 pin connector gets in the way. A 5W 120R fits easily as per below.
