Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.
I am actually amazed just how sloppy a sinewave has to be before noticing any effects, I ran a house years ago off a 8 step modified squareware inverter and had no issues apart from a barely noticeable increase in noise from anything audioThis was an old jaycar2400w 24v inveterthat cost around $800 at the time, weighed about 5 kilos and the back half was entirely heatsink, complete with not 1 but teo full sized cooling fans A monster by modern standards
I also had a faulty 1200w in the car for a while, never noticed it was faulty because it mostly run switchmode powersupplies, it wasnt until I pulled in my old soldering iron and it barely got warm- checking the output it was only about 90v instead of 240v- seems that was still enough for the switchmodes to keep working happily
I would be careful with the ride on dishwasher though.
Very dangerous if ridden astride. Best handled "side saddle". Cheers, Tony.

I used to run the house off of a 2 step sine wave inverter back in the 80's. Worked fine but caused a horrible buzz on the phone line.
Mark you will work out the ride on dishwasher, they are very sensitive to the wrong signals. There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Well it was 42 here today and I was up on rooftops fixing them, pulled stumps at noon, just too nasty, then got driven mad by the feral spawn of Satan when I got home. Damn kid doesn't shut up, seriously don't know how he doesn't have a sore throat by 7am even.Cheers Caveman Mark Off grid eastern Melb

There's a reason I'm putting all the panels I can on my roof, It's so when days like this come along, I can scurry inside about 11 am, sit in 23o air conditioned heaven and wait till about 5pm to venture out into the fading heat to appear to have done something for the day AND still be able to pay the power bill when it comes in.
I was running some leads through the shed window yesterday and must have pulled on the wire that goes from the broken 300W panel on the shed roof to the twin radiator fans in the window that blow in a powerful gale a lot of the day.
Opened the door and it was like an oven in there. Normally even with the door closed it's quite nice. Fans probably push the hot air out through the gaps in the corrugated roof.
Fixed the problem and shed was livable again in about 10 minutes.

cracked 46 here, I scurried home and kicked the swampie in the guts, first time I have needed to use the AC for 2 years, residual heat from 44 yesterday got through my insulation and heated the walls up. I'm confused, no wait... maybe I'm not...

One thing I detest is this habit of modern marketing to describe a modified square wave as a modified sine wave inverter- technically it should really be a 8 step or 8 bit squarewave (or how ever many steps it has)

Know that feeling well...
I have a little hidy hole at the back of my garage. Very well insulated, big airconditioner and a big gas space heater. Within about ten minutes its nice and comfortable no matter what the temperature is outside.Cheers, Tony.

Me either, unless it's one of these ones presumably manufactured in the 70's thru to the late '80's.

It reminds me of a cartoon of a husband washing the dishes.
The wife saying to another woman standing nearby, how she had a dishwasher with a big hose.Cheers, Tony.

Ride on dishwashers have been around forever, later model ones seem to be more troublesome. There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Personally I'd advise not touching the ones made after about 2000, but the older ones tend to be high costs in maintence and once they get too old, they tend to break down frequently, not washing the dishes at all, or can cause dish breakagesEdited by Boppa 2018-01-22

I believe I already covered that particular issue with the older models ie "not washing the dishes at all, or can cause dish breakages"

Not to mention some legal issues that could arise for models made after 2002.There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.
