I see different companies are offering deals on solar credits etc. Origin and AGL in Victoria are offering to roll credits over after 12 months which none of the others are. Just wondering has anyone got any good deals off Victorian power companies, we are with origin but would swap if needed. Tru Energy was not aware of the rebate of 60 cents in victoria when we enquired. thanks |

WOW that’s a worry...... for them not to know about the gov/net FIT. Or was it just a "call centre worker" that just worked there for the money and had no interest.. I for one, if was working in that area and a customer told me the gov will/may be paying .60c as a FIT... i would say WOW let me look into that (i want a share of that pie!!) My 1980 watt system made 10kwh yesterday hhhmmm hypothetically if we were gross 10x66c =$6.60 (edit yes i know VIC is going to be NET) |

I gather the 60 cent rebate is only available to 2% of new connections(capped) under the new grant regime that come into effect June last. Got my first rebate from origin this month 22 cent per kwhr. Have move all of my most power hungry activities like welding to off-peak times (8 cents per kwhr) to max the the rebate effect. |

yikes where is this 2% part (in black and white) for the moment we are payed 1=1 (20c) but once the gov give the ok and the origins of the world get up and running we will be in fact paid 66c per kwh 60c gov + 6c bonus from origin so where on the orgin/gov/web site? does it talk about the 2% of connections.?? |

Clear Solar ad on the radio. Look at this way the gov't is trying to reduce expenditure the 66 cent is an incentive to the lucky few a bit like gambling. The 66 cent rebate is a good to be true incentive......who is going to pay 66 cents for solar power in our society when we can buy dirty power for 22 cents? |

So are you saying that only 2% people that install solar panels will be paid the 60/66c FIT i dont think that that is correct.. this is from the origin`s web site... Plus, with our net metered installations, if your solar electricity system produces more electricity than you need, you’ll be reimbursed for any surplus your system feeds back into the grid, via generous feed-in tariffs†. Victoria Origin's FIT rate for net metered small scale renewable energy installations (solar electricity, wind, biomass and micro-hydro) is 23.5c/kWh (Export Tariff 5) for customers consuming less than 160 MWh pa with systems up to 8 KW in capacity. Origin offers FITs for customers consuming less than 160 MWh pa with systems up to 100 KW in capacity, for further information please view the Victorian feed-in tariff information. For customers consuming more than 160 MWh per annum, Origin will negotiate an agreement for an eligible rate for the customer's supply address. Victorians will soon receive some of the most generous FIT rates in Australia. In July, the Victorian Parliament passed the Premium Solar Feed-in Tariff Bill, to increase the feed-in tariff rate to 60c/kWh for eligible customers with net metered solar electricity systems up to 5kW in capacity. On most days, my solar system exports over 90% of the generated power. Unless you live at home all day and have home theatre running all day and cook with electricity during the day, then a fair swag of power should be exported. Gordon. become more energy aware |

DOES ANYBODY know when we will actually get the 60cents rebate. I rang my local member today and he said it should have gone through the paperwork by now seeing as the bill was passed. he suspected there was no rush because it will cost the government money. Also quietly suggested ringing your own local member of parlament to make waves and writing letters to newspapers or he said better still ring your local talkback radio and somebody from government has to answer. |

In Victoria to the best of my knowledge only AGL and Origin do solar rebates. Just Rx'ed an offer from Origin to get 66c premium feed in tariff. In a nutshell it is for 14yrs and if u change providers one looses the premium feed in tariff of 66c. |

hmm.. i wasnt aware you couldnt change providers.. Im currently with TRU getting the 66perKwH herre in VIC net. but was hoping that once the other companies got their acts into gear a more competitive rate could be achieved elsewhere.. Steve |

i would say that it means that you will loose the PFIT for the provider you leave. But you can pick the 0.66 PFIT with a new provider (lock in contract for 2 years? perhaps) |

When i had to sign up with TRU for the PFIT tariffs, i was told that i was under no contract whatsoever, and i could leave at any time.. which at the time i thought was quite strange.. |

hehe.. yeah.. my biggest problem here is that i cant do off-peak metering.. so no matter what time i use my loads i still have to pay peak rates.. which really sux.. |

If u are in Vic and on the farm the solar meter is an intelligent one with auto-switch happening 11pm to 7am week days and on Friday 12pm to 7am Monday. Times are non daylight saving. Your sparkie should have arranged the correct meter for u. |

auto switch is "normal" for all type 5 "smart" meters. the drawback is that normally the price per KW/hr peak rate is more than what you are paying now, so if you're not careful, feed in and all, you can end up paying more for electricity than you are now  Luck favours the well prepared |
