Where would electronics be today if it was not for the huge amount of development that went into the Apollo Moon Mission? Here are some of the things that they developed such as the first Silicone Chips. There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't. |

It was a fantastic project during interesting times. I realise the moon landing mission was born out of the "Cold War" but what a beautiful project. So rare. Can you imagine one of our leaders of today embarking on such a mission? Cheers Andrew PS Can you believe the 7400 TTL series is over 50 years old |

MacOffGrid Going to the Moon is the greatest thing that man has ever accomplished I can't believe they lost all of the original video and all the data on how they got there literally tons of video reels I've always wondered why we haven't been back then I came across a video on YouTube and they asked one of the people at NASA why we haven't been back to the Moon He stated that we once had that technology that we destroyed it and it would be too big of a process to build back After that I clicked on a video of a current NASA scientist working on a module to get to the moon He stated that the Van Allen radiation belts we're so bad that it would nuke any living thing that tried to go through them so they was working on trying to make shielding they said it would have to be three or four foot thick of lead to protect any living thing from dying going through it All the NASA scientist say that is the reason why we can't get past low earth orbit Neil Armstrong is my favorite the first man to set foot on the Moon and he has a auto biography coming out soon or has already came out He is such a humble man he says that he does not want to be remembered as the first person that sets foot on the Moon Sometimes very honest humble and brave true Heroes do what they have to for themselves and their family He wants to be remembered for all the other things he has accomplished like being a fighter pilot war hero in the Korean War Also test pilot 4 new aircraft Chuck Yeager is Another Hero a real good friend of my family he came to our family reunions when I was very little very good guy Honest and brave first person to break the sound barrier the closest airport to me is named after him Charleston's Yeager Airport The guy that designed the Rockets that was used to go to the moon put something a little curious on his tombstone One of the best documentaries on the moon mission I've ever seen is free for all of us to watch You can look it up on YouTube or a lot of other places really awesome video the name of the movie is A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Moon I recommend that everyone watch it It shows a lot of how we got to the Moon and a lot of the process that was involved If you like the movie and want to find out more about the whole subject you can look up Eric Dubay he has written several books that are available on Amazon and other places there are also a lot of audiobooks of his online and he has a lot of free videos out there on YouTube sometimes they're a little hard to find But if you're interested you'll be able to find them be warned i am good parrot but Dumber than a box of rocks |

There seem to be two diametrically opposite tin foil hat theories. 1/ the Moon landings were all faked and radiation levels in space are lethal, and even if it did all happen, the Aliens out there told NASA to piss off and not to come back to the moon. 2/ The secret space program is decades ahead of what has been publicly acknowledged, we now have bases on the moon, bases on Mars and beyond. The US military did not just accidentally misplace 21 Trillion, or however much it was. It is no longer worth the huge cost of launching expensive liquid fuel rockets just for public show, when anti gravity and greater than light speed technology exists. It's a much more cost effective method of travel. I really have no idea, but there is no doubt we have been consistently lied to, and are still being lied to. Cheers, Tony. |

I have my own tin foil hat theory. Governments are too inept to perform a conspiracy of that nature and magnitude. But Politicians and the Moneyed 0.1% are exceedingly good at conspiring to strip us of our wealth and hoard it for themselves - legally and illegally. Cheers Andrew |

It's not a big conspiracy at all people are just teaching other people what they we're taught and believed to be true We'd like to think that we meaning this generation is the smartest that there has ever been But the more you study history the more you find out this is not true at all You will find Cut Stone as big as houses that there's no way we in this generation can move You will find stone walls built of giant rock that was literally melted together in irregular shapes that we in this generation still cannot do You will find H blocks with such precision we in this generation still cannot do You will find Nero's bathtub and another ones that's even bigger that was turned on a lathe with precision such a grand scale that we cannot do These are only a few examples of the thousands of red flags out there that people choose to ignore so they can think that our generation is the smartest generation that there's ever been The biggest library on Earth that ever has been was destroyed and burnt to the ground for reason You will find fired clay tablets written in cuneiform that speak of all the planets some of the planets we've just discovered in the last hundred years The red flags go on and on and on you could choose to ignore them or dig a little deeper and find the truth What we in this generation think of as myth as Legend as old stories just told for entertainment if you dig deep enough don't believe everything you was taught look at the proof with a none indoctrinated open mind and use the true scientific method testable provable repeatable by anyone Something isn't true because someone says it's true it's true because it's testable provable repeatable buy anyone not just very few people When the gap between true science and Theory gets so large then people cannot tell the truth from just Theory Look up what the current scientist say about the percentage that we truly know and is not Theory about anything that is off this Earth Every one of them States themselves that we know somewhere around 4% and with that 4% of which testable provable repeatable they are theorizing about the rest We have came a long way when it comes to electronics and the way we communicate with each other but we know absolutely nothing of what the Ancients knew And in my mind knowing 4% it's not enough to know how the whole solar system works The Ancients meticulously study this and every piece of knowledge that is found that comes from them is tested to be true and that is where most of all the 4% that we do know came from In my mind the ancient ones was the smartest Generations There's an old saying that says there's nothing new Under the Sun And only a psychopath would think themselves so much better than you that they should rule over or own you People in general have no clue what they don't know And labels are for hiding truth Keep in mind I have not stated that I know anything or have any intelligence at all because I truly don't The pure intelligence on this site intrigues me there are so many highly intelligent people on this site I am just a very curious person that is curious about everything and knows absolutely nothing My never-ceasing curiosity maybe a curse or a blessing I know I just cannot stop thinking about something until it makes sense My opinions are ever-changing none of which are set in stone it's basically testable provable repeatable by anyone and what makes sense Mackoffgrid you stated the very most important part no matter your view on anything else be warned i am good parrot but Dumber than a box of rocks |

I watched the movie THE DISH over the weekend in honour of the 50th. This is a great movie, and forgetting everything else for the moment, the technology of the time and what they were able to do just in terms of video links and communication etc was really impressive. I doubt we would be where we are technology wise today, without those efforts. As to the divergence of the thread onto other matters with respect to the Earth, I believe this has already been covered, and Gizmo made an admin ruling there, so I would be cautious with your comments. Thanks Grog Yeah guys, lets drop the conspiracy theory crap. If, like me, you had a good science education and know the Earth is the third planet to a middle aged star in a arm of one of many galaxies, and we are nothing but star dust that has become self aware thanks to physics and lots and lots and lots of time, then like me you will appreciate how significant it was for the life forms on this spherical lump of rock to escape the gravity and visit another world, in a controlled manner. What the engineers of NASA and the hundreds of companies they contracted did was difficult, but they knew it was possible, and they did it, and they should be recognised for their efforts. If you believe it was faked, and the American government some how managed to employ and then keep quiet thousands of people, then this isn't a conversation for you. Madness, The earth is flat! Did you say that by joking or do you really think the earth is flat? It may sound crazy of me, but I also believe "The Earth Is Flat"! My tongue was firmly planted in my cheek when I typed "the earth is flat"! I know those who start talking about free energy, over unity and such are not welcome in "The Back Shed" and those conspiracy theories are in the same category. A good friend of mine was working at Parkes Radio Telescope while Buzz Aldren and Neil Armstrong were on the moon 50 years ago. He has told me how the Dish was pointed at the moon and he was able to listen and view the signals that it was receiving. I have no reason to doubt his word and that there was no possibility that what he heard was coming from anywhere other than the moon as he was a technician there. To think just over 60 years earlier was the first powered flight and how much we advanced in that time to be able to get to the moon. I heard a comment on one TV programme that some of our fridges have more processing power than the guidance computer from Apollo 11. Speaking of the Apollo computer, there is a youtube fella I follow called CuriousMarc who usually blogs about repairing old IBM main frames. He recently did a series of videos on repairing a genuine AGC ( Apollo Guidance Computer ). His team explain very well how it worked and how they managed to get it going again after 45 years. Its very interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KSahAoOLdU&list=PL-_93BVApb59FWrLZfdlisi_x7-Ut_-w7 There are 23 videos in the series. I've watched the first part of that series, and it is fascinating. EDIT: We really don't appreciate the power of modern micro-controllers like the Micromite, until you watch videos like this. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

A few years back, I actually visited 'the Dish' (they hold regular public tours) and it is a magnificent structure indeed I was lucky as it was actually in operation (unfortunately that meant no pics LOL- as they do ask everyone to switch their mobiles off, as the EMI from them swamps the signals they are trying to listen to) and it was actually angled up about 45 deg, so as you approach it, it first starts peeking over the trees, and just keeps getting bigger and bigger until when you are under it, you realise just how BIG that sucker is.... My job was to retrofit all the new 12.75Ghz waveguides inside the AUSSAT 13 mtr. dish at Belrose in NSW. Plus I /we,completely restored the complete drive system in the hub .. Its huge , there is a trap-door that allows techs to stand out in the dish to service the feed-horn . I think that particular project would have taken us about 6 months ,as everything is custom built . The coaxial feeder system is very complicated and all the feeders are semi-rigid hard copper sheathed. All the feed systems are dry-air pressure fed to keep everything bone dry. Bruce Bushboy |

There's a good article on the Apollo software in "American Scientist" magazine, definitely worth reading. Watching one of the TV programs on it, it struck me how lucky we are, that we can do these things today - as a hobby no less. Massive gratitude to the pioneers! We really need an inspiring, difficult objective to challenge the technical community, world wide, again. I hope we get to Mars soon. ed - "American Scientist" May-June issue. ed-ed - link |
