I'm interested in buying a Variable drive unit to suit my new testbed .. It would have to run a single phase 240v 1.5 HP motor. If you know or a working second hand one or a reasonable priced new one ,,would you let me know, pls. I'm around the Gold Coast ,,sth east Queensland..
Thanks

Hey Bruce, I am not sure if this is what you are after.
I have a variable transformer at home that I am not using. It has a large dial that changes volts up to about 260 volts.
I will have to check amps and get back to you, if you still want it.
Robbo.

Wow, Great guess !
It climbs to 260 volts (from a 240 volt input ???)
Total is 2.5amps.

Hi guys,
the variac is not the way to go. The VFD is a better way, but is more suited to a 3phase motor.

Hi Bruce as Gordon has said a VFD is the way to go. I'm due to go back to work on the 12th and if you like I'll get a 1.5kw VFD which I'll tell em is for me so I'll buy it at cost and you can have it for the same price + postage. As your the ol' Aussie scrooge I'm sure you'll find a 3 phase 1.5Kw motor capable of running in delta at the scrapyard for not much and you'll be away.
Just let me know in IRC mate and it's really too easy
Cheers Bryan |
