I'm pretty sure this is a stupid question....

I get a little annoyed by my car stereo having blue lighting when the rest of my car instruments are red.

is it possible to swap the blue leds over to red ones. if not, why not?

I understand that the blue leds have a higher voltage drop than red, so the reds will be over-driven but is that really a problem?

Is there any other reason this shouldn't be attempted?

thanks.

If the blue LEDs have a special driver supplying them maybe it might be a problem. If they are supplied via dropping resistors I would think it would be safe to swap them.

How old is the stereo? Later models have selectable backlight options. If your's doesn't then as long as your eyes are good (most modern systems have surface mount lighting) and you can source your colour choice then it won't be a problem.

You think you have a problem? Every time someone else drives my ute they turn the stereo off and when I turn it on the display cycles through about ten different 'skins', combinations of blue, white, red and green lighting effects. Drives me nuts until I get it sorted again.
