I have two strings of 6Volt batteries with 4 batteries in series in each string. These two strings are connected in parallel.

Would be there much benefit in inter-connecting these so that every battery is directly in parallel with its neighbour. IE three inter-connecting wires, possibly to help equalise the charging across the whole system.

Thanks,

I don't know about that but there is a disadvantage, you cannot disconnect one bank to work on the system. With two banks you can do that and everything continues to run.
