I just came across these mosfets

A few of you probably already checked these out

The reason I was looking was for those cheap little Chinese inverter boards

The ones that come with only four mosfets

The one that poida helped me with is still running perfect

These little boards are only thirty bucks on eBay

It would be nice to be able to up their output

I've even thought about putting two mosfet  in each single mosfet holes

I think this could be done by turning them around facing the opposite direction and putting them up through the bottom of the board

I don't know if this would work with only one resistor and diode for two mosfets

Thank all you guys in advance for your thoughts and discussions on this subject

I already have pretty much everything I need

I live in a poverty-stricken state(WV)

So this question and some other questions are not for me but for other people

I'm trying to help make off grid solar affordable to the poorest of people

Some of the people that have been helped  had no electricity at all

Thanks for your time

AU $22.42 | Aoweziic  2019+ 100% new imported original  HY5608W HY5608 TO-247 FET 80V 360A

https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/ELtWNyNK

Costs about the same, and rds on is lower, not sure about current handling without real world use. But if datasheet is to go by, good alternative to hy4008s... didn't think that possible lol.
I think it works !!

Thanks noneyabusiness

What do you think about putting two mosfets in the same holes

Second ones sticking out the back side of the board flipped in the other direction so the pens matchup

Do you think it would work  using the same resistor and diode for two mosfets

Those little boards are made in such a way it would be pretty easy to stick them in from the bottom and add a second heat sink

I know a lot of this Probably sounds silly

a little bit of electricity makes a big difference in a person's life

Anything I do I will not profit from

I have built inverters for me and my family

Being able to run a refrigerator microwave and a small 5000 BTU air conditioner makes a giant difference in someone's life

The couple I would like to help right now have lived for 6 years without electricity

They run a small generator for about 2 hours a day to charge a few batteries and to run a refrigerator long enough to keep it cool until the next day

The gasoline for the generator and having to get a ride out to town ends up being pretty expensive

I'm trying to figure out a way to upgrade these cheap 30 dollar inverter boards from eBay

Small refrigerator wouldn't be over 600 watts

a 5000 BTU air conditioner is around 500 watts

small microwave 1200 watts and of course a few hundred Watts for Lights TV and charging phone

So a inverter that would do continuous 1500 watts and occasional up to 3000 would work good

They already have a couple of batteries

I already have extra solar panels wiring and Breakers

This would make a absolutely gigantic upgrade to these people's lives

No one is poor because they want to be by the way

this is an older couple

The man was in an accident and is all crippled up

The woman is a good woman but she's never worked

even if she did have a skill there's no jobs around  where they live

This could literally happen to anyone in the United States

I don't know about Australia and other places in the world

A man feels like the most worthless piece of crap on Earth

it will break a 205 pound big strong arrogant man into 118 lb humbled weakling

People never completely recover from events like this physically or mentally

Point is People Are People and all deserve love respect and a hand up if possible

I'm sorry this is so long but I thought it was necessary

I hope this helps to explain my mindset when asking questions that sounds really silly

I have been blessed enough to be able to help a few people get electricity

I would like to be able to help many more

this would not have been possible without the wisdom from you guys on here

Thank you from me and others that have benefited from this site and the people on it

I think oztules stated earlier in one of his threads, 1 hy4008 per leg will do 2kw all day with a decent fan on it.. so it should be possible.  As for doubling them, try it .. im unsure of the technical side of things, but these things are tough...

Its good you want to help, we need more people like you in this world. I personally in a very similar situation,  hurty back bad late last year, doesn't look like its going to get better. So feel pretty useless indeed...

Hi Ben, Paralleling your mosfets in the same holes may result in some minor explosions as the power is increased. Two gate inputs sharing a common drive resistor is not recommended, no way will they be matched enough to turn on evenly at the same time, the driver chip is going to get more stress switching the higher load capacitance of the combined gates. Circuit layout and drive becomes more critical as the number of parallel devices increase.

However by all means try it, get same branded mosfets of known spec if possible, bolt them in close proximity to each other on the same heat sink, so thermally they heat up at the same rate. Blow some cooling air over the driver chips.

All the best.

Mike

Noneyabussiness thanks for your reply 2000 Watts with 4 mosfets

I knew the hy4008 could do it for short periods of time

Good information to know that thay can do it all day

What mosfet do you guys think would give  the most wattage and use only 4 mosfets

How does the hy5608 or others compared to the hy 4008

I'm late to the party here, and to the subject in general, but kudos to you for trying to provide free electricity (except for the capital cost) to those who lack it.

Since you're looking at a total system, even if small, can you provide details about each of the component parts and their connections, at least:

1) which "cheap little Chinese inverter boards"?
2) what batteries?
3) what capacity solar panels?
4) what breakers and interconnections?

All intended to run, for instance, some LED lighting @ 200 watts, 5000 BTU air conditioner @ 500 watts, refrigerator @ 600 watts, occasional microwave @ 1200 watts.

Do you have a rough schematic for this setup?

(And bonus question: I have some of the 120V 50W LED shop lights from Harbor Freight--absolutely brilliant lighting; but are there 12V LED modules which could provide similar light without the efficiency losses of going through the inverter? I've tried a number of 12V LED modules and they all have seemed vastly overrated with respect to the light actually produced.)
