I am very new at this electronics, and spend many happy hours in the shed just playing with little circuits that I make. I test my amps, volts and resistance using a multimeter and doing the maths. I have been given a Dick Smith Q-1140 Multitester, with a operating manual. After following the manual I still can't measure resistance with it. The meter seems to measure everything else. Is it possible that component of the meter is "broken" and every thing else is OK? Cheers |

Start with the batteries, you'll need those for resistance. |

Yes, as above. Volts and current do not need good batteries but resistance requires batteries to supply a voltage across the resistor in test. Failing that I assume it is a rotary dial jobbie.
