Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Experiences with Poor quality components.

I have been doing some practical experimenting recently with the OzInverters.

I have had one making slightly more audible noise at the ferrite choke than normal.

I tried to track down the reason.

Over many hours the noise got a higher audible noise. Working in my workshop doing another project.

Then the AC 230va control circuit started misbehaving, a few hours later the toroid started hunting, then it went to a 290vac and I could no longer control the AC output.

Swapped out parts in a methodical way, the 8010 sub board unit, rebuilt the AC output circuit plus a new AC isolation transformer etc etc. Checked the toroid and hardware AC for any shorts etc etc.

Then as a last resort I swapped out the IR2110 driver chips, and hay presto the AC regulation returned, and the ferrite choke is as quite as a gentle bumble bee.

Those IR2110 were direct from China. The new ones I fitted were from RS, I also use Farnell now.

On the outside the chips all looked the same with the manufacturers marks, but obviously they are not.

I know, before you ask why I don't use the other driver chips variants that have been discussed here. Because I like to use what I have, that's if it works.

Everything is possible, just give me time.

3 HughP's 3.7m Wind T's (14 years). 5kW PV on 3 Trackers, (10 yrs). 21kW PV AC coupled SH GTI's. OzInverter created Grid. 1300ah 48v.

I had almost exactly the same experience, ended up with ir2113 from x-on.. maybe try the less " popular " ir2113, usually means less counterfeits.. i can't see any difference other than higher voltage tolerance. .
I think it works !!
