these
These little boards are out of a power jack inverter
as you can see these little boards take the little mosfet
I would like to use big Style hy4008 in these boards I would also like to have it be through hole
It would be nice to have a file that would make it possible for these to be ordered and made
I bet a lot of people would really appreciate this
these little boards are very expensive if you have to buy them from Power Jack
I could give somebody precise measurements of this board
I could send them one in the mail if anyone's interested in taking on this task
I have grown very fond of the hy4008 thanks you guys for telling me about it
I would really appreciate any and all comments on this subject
thanks everybody I appreciate itEdited by BenandAmber 2019-04-06be warned i am good parrot but Dumber than a box of rocks

I can do this for you, as always, Ben if it helps you.
That said, not all circuit boards are created equal - since these are power MOSFET boards, because of the weight of the additional copper needed, the PCB itself can be pretty expensive.
The other expense would be the additional solder, heatsink and ofcourse the testing of the board to ensure it actually works.
One thing I would recommend is ensuring this has Sean's blessing: if I am correct, the main reason why you are purchasing PowerJacks is that you are betting Sean will step in and help you out when you need help so you might want to ensure everything you do with PowerJack sits well with Sean.
You have my email and address, let me know what you think is best and I will gladly help.

Thanks LadyN the little circuit board just has to be one-sided
I can add solder to it so it can be a very cheap it needs no heat sink just a blank circuit board with the traces on it is all I need
it will fit four of the big mosfets instead 6
5 holes that are connected together and go to the right side pin of the mosfet need to stay in the exact same location
The single hole would have to stay in the same location
And I would want all the resistors to be through hole
I would probably have to send someone one of these little boards because there might be more going on there
It may not be that simple I have a feeling there's a lot more going on there
all the mosfet would have to fire at the same time
I know anybody with a power jack would really appreciate these little boards
It would keep them from having to depend on Power Jack for them they are very expensive
And would be able to use the hy4008
so an expert needs to look at it but if you feel like you're up to it
I can send you one of these little boards and you can give it a try you would have to chase out the circuitry and see exactly how it works and make sure the new one work the same
just using the bigger mosfet fewer of them and through hole resistor diode
I was hoping one of the experts on here that have experience with Power Jack would have pity on me
and make me a cad or Gerber file or whatever the PCB companies need to have them made
I know it would be awesome to have and not only for me anybody that had a power jack would really appreciate this hack
LadyN you are incredibly smart and fast learning you may be able to make one of these boards in your sleep
I just don't know your skill level which is obviously above mine
I would really appreciate you or anyone that would take this onEdited by BenandAmber 2019-04-08be warned i am good parrot but Dumber than a box of rocks

I am happy, as always to help you out Ben :)
As I said before, make sure Sean is OK with us making copies of these boards. As you know I also design firmware for hardware companies (some are one man operations) and I have found out that we techies often get caught up in building things while forgetting that the core design rights might not be ours.
In the U.S. the right to repair protection exists but is too difficult for me to interpret so I will leave it to you to make sure we are doing everything by the book.
Which is why I love the Warpverter - it's an original design from first principles not beholden to the whims of one company.
I really ask you to reconsider focusing your efforts from the PJ to the Warpverter. I assure you will not be regretting the decision.
Now about PJ: these pictures are VERY VERY good quality - i think I will be able to design the boards right off these pictures.
So I will need your help with:
1. Part number and datasheet of the MOSFET 2. values of the SMD parts - you already have that component tester and that will give you the value of the cap (C1) on there.
We might need more close ups but let's start off with what we have once you give me the go ahead.

Yup, The Warpverter is in many ways quite original in both concept and design, and not a copy of anything.
Its all now completely out there in the public domain, and free for anyone to use or copy and therefore cannot be patented.
Because of the high cost of producing the transformers commercially, its never likely to become of any interest to big corporations, or their scum bag lawyers.
Cheers, Tony.

You go warp speed I like your opinion and attitude
As far as the little boards go ladyN it has the small style mosfet in it right now
six of them there's only room for four of the big style I think they're 247 Style not sure
As far as copyright goes I just plan on using these for myself my own machines
Sean don't care at all he's just repairs power jack inverters
I don't think there's anything wrong with you modifying your own inverter not that I know of
After Sean sees my modifications he might hit you up for you to make him a little board
It will be really nice not to have to buy Power Jack mosfet boards that are way overpriced
And I already bought a hundred of the hy4008 big Style
And I'm really impressed with himbe warned i am good parrot but Dumber than a box of rocks

Take a few pictures of the MOSFET so I can see the part number and the area of the board near the MOSFET so I can see the trace better.
I need to ensure the MOSFETs can be interchanged.
I am also on the look out for the HY4008 247 Style. For some reason, I only see mostly the 220 style.
If you find a good source for the 247, let me know.

Someone gave a link on here or the otherpower website saying that these were authentic and a lot of fakes out there so I ordered them while I could and knew they wasn't fake
Keep in mind stuff changes all the time I don't know if the ones you get will be fake or real
the ones I got were real and the person I got the link off of he ordered and got real ones off this guy
your results May Vary I hold no responsibilities if anybody orders and get gets fake ones I can just tell you my experience and how I got the linkEdited by BenandAmber 2019-04-10be warned i am good parrot but Dumber than a box of rocks

I have been pushing over 2000 Watts on just four of these on that little tiny inverter board I set that output amps at close to 20 amps on this little board so that's well over 2000 Watts it don't seem to mind itbe warned i am good parrot but Dumber than a box of rocks

It's important to have some idea of the nature of the loads, when you are pushing things (to see how far it can go)
Resistive loads like kettles, or space heaters are very different to inverter type microwave ovens, or inverter type AC units. The inverter type appliances probably draw power in huge high current pulses, with little draw between pulses. The resistive loads are far kinder on it.
Ben, the specs for the HY4008 say they can switch 800A, but only for short periods of ON (milliseconds), with large periods OFF. They can handle 200A continuously, technically. But that is only when they are on a heat sink good enough to keep the tiny silicon piece inside the package at 25 deg C.
One thing I have to ask is: DO you have a fan, that cools the heatsink?
The HY4008 specs show that temperature is the killer, when running them hard. When they get to about 100degC - inside the package is hotter than outside - then you have to halve the amount of power they must deal with.wronger than a phone book full of wrong phone numbers

For me, the limiting factor of the HY4008 is its 80V Vds rating.
This means the output transformer always has to be a stepup type and the Warpverter, as currently designed, does not allow that.
Which brings me to think, there's no technical reason the Warpverter has to use step down transformers AFAIK
Hmm....

Poida the great and ladyN we used the case of my 12 volt inverter for the little board that's how well we like poida the greats design
I have it all installed and completely finished except for the case fan drawls 0.3 amps
I don't know if that is too many amps for the little inverter boards 12 volt fan output
I have contacted every seller on eBay and on AliExpress and none of them knows the limitations of the little boards 12 volt fan output
So instead of risking blowing this little board up decided to maybe purchase a 48 volt to 12 volt step down
Unless any of you might know if it will handle it or not like I said the fan draws 0.3 amps
All the testing I've done with this little board have been hair dryers heat guns fans lights and circle saws jigsaws sawzalls no microwave for air conditioner yetEdited by BenandAmber 2019-04-11be warned i am good parrot but Dumber than a box of rocks

BenandAmber, have you considered of not using that on board TFB feature on the EG002 board at all? You might have to connect a 10K resistor to its pin to fool the chip .
But, instead, use one of those ready made temperature control modules. They are cheap enough on ebay and there are many to choose from, like one for switching mains voltage fans or 12V fan types etc. They all have a temperature probe on a lead to attach wherever you want. Many modules have a neat temperature display so you can see what the heat sink (or whatever) temperature is. You can set the fan on temperature different from the fan off temperature.
I use these modules in my big inverters, you might have seen a pic of it in my build thread.Klaus
