Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

This may not be exactly what you wanted to hear
But it worked for me
I checked eBay everyday
you don't have to look through all the listings everyday
they have a setting that will list the ones that have been most recently put up for sale
They had a price tag of $300 on mine plus shipping
I offered them $100 plus shipping
They counter-offered for 125 plus shipping
I jumped on it
Shipping was about a dollar a pound little over $50 for 52 lb Transformer
I made sure to say a prayer
to thank God and ask God to bless the seller
whole point of saying all this is don't be afraid to offer whatever you can afford
they might just take you up on it
another thing it isn't always stated what the VA rating or the wattage is on the Transformer
before you buy anything I would advise you ask some of the people on this form for advice
so you don't end up buying the wrong kind of Transformer
it almost always shows the shipping cost
these Transformers are big and heavy
the shipping cost will be pretty high so comparing shipping cost this will
be a quick way of scanning through
and seeing if there's any big ones for sell
I have also noticed that some of the bigger APC UPS have toroidal Transformers you would have to do your research because a lot of them has Square
anyone else that has a good idea on how to get big toroidal Transformers please chime inEdited by BenandAmber 2019-02-27

This is very very good information.

I need to start reading up on transformers. I am at a very early stage right now and due to my inexperience I am heavily dependent on specs of the core, for example, its datasheet that lists the saturation current, permeability, hysteresis curve and the like.

The sellers on eBay almost never have these specifications.

A guru in power electronics would almost never need these numbers as they can figure those out themselves but for an absolute novice like myself, those numbers could make a difference between poor performance and abject failure.

I will start looking in parallel to your help.

Perhaps I should worry less and start off with the 3 toroids you had to give and try it myself and get over my fear.

You are very welcome to them have you seen those windmills they make out of Fisher and Paykel Motors here in the US other manufacturers make the same Motors they are really cool and they're a generator right from the get-go very surprising how much power they put out that might be a good project I don't know if you like something like that or not I have a couple of those Motors the you'd be welcome to one of them I also have a treadmill motor that some people makes windmills out of those but I really think that the Fisher and Paykel Style are pretty awesome myself if I was going to be staying put somewhere I would definitely B building 1 myselfEdited by BenandAmber 2019-02-27

You are very generous.

Let's see if the recyclers predict to have something bigger in the near future, otherwise I'll get them from you mid-March to give them some time?

No on the windmill motors. As much as I would like to have them, making a Warpverter is possibly going to take a year, if not more, for me. I'm pretty sure during that time you probably would either have used it up yourself looking at how fast you build things or someone more deserving would have got to them. I don't want to tie up resources best used elsewhere!

Good toroids I can use is enough for me and I am really grateful to you for those whether we find bigger ones or not :)
