I presume most Australian makers buy a lot of their electronic components from aliExpress. This post could be a "heads up" or my observation could be corrected by other's experiences.

I placed a bunch of orders on aliExpress in later November - some of them are still trickling in this week and some are still outstanding. What we noticed is that all the really slow deliveries were mail by Yanwen. About 2-3 weeks ago I was forced to re-order some parts and used mail by China Post (ordinary small packet plus), paid a little bit more. I've received most of them already !!

When I received orders mailed by Yanwen we noticed they had up to 3 different shipping labels slapped on them, one covering the previous, and they did seem to go around the world.

I am now strongly favouring using mail by China Post from here on.

Yeah I noticed that too. One other thing I found was paying extra for e packet with claimed faster delivery is a total waste of money.
I have had orders come in exactly the same time when ordered by normal and e packet.
I just get the std china small parcel now, if it defaults to yanwen then the china small pack is normally only 60c more on light small items.

Add another to the list, Yanwen must literally walk to Australia...

Although I normally have tracking on most of my deliveries, and have noticed that many get to Brisbane and then stop there for two, three or four weeks- I suspect Customs has a lot to do with some delays....

OK just confirmed again, e packet arrives the same time as air parcel.
I ordered 4 lcd's from one mob e packet and 1 each from two others std mail.
All arrived today, all were ordered within 10 min of each other.Edited by renewableMark 2019-03-30

Thanks for the update Mark and Boppa

I'm sticking to China Post unless I'm really NOT in a hurry.
I've got a stm32F407VET6 board thats meant to be coming by e-packet, ordered 6 weeks ago and still no sign of it. Might be the vendor though.

Thought I'd add in an amazing experience. Bought some cheap pushbuttons and leads through Aliexpress.
16 days from China to Qld, Australia.

Delivered via China post.
Post was 'extra' but that only made the gear same price as combined cost 'free' post offerings anyway.

Also just received a order in 16 day via China post .
I think sometimes the supplier has not the items, and the postage gets the blame.

I had a similar experience today, I received 10 F/F connector assembliess I ordered on 13/4/19 via china post small packet. Cant complain about that, lately 2-3 weeks delivery even one with Yanwen.

If at first you dont succeed, I suggest you avoid sky diving....
