What are all the types of Inverters discussed here?
I am so excited about all the types of Inverters discussed here but quickly found myself overwhelmed with all of them. I want to understand them and so I think getting them all in once place and categorizing them off the fundamental design could be useful?
So far, it seems like the most popular inverter is the :

Mike seems to have recently built one based off it and documented here (apologies if I got that confused)

From your other thread where you wish to share load with the grid that will not be possible with the inverters I have seen here. To do that you require a "grid tie inverter" that is a totally different animal. Cheers Roger 1Kwp DIY PV + Woodburner + Rainwater scavanger :) |

Hi LadyN,
4 types of Inverter have been developed here since 2015, and there build process shown here on this forum.
1. 'Oztules' work, 'OzInverter' formed from the Australian Powerstar and the Chinese PowerJack Inverters. Uses a Toroid and H Bridge. At the time I also required an Inverter that would actually do what it said it could do, ie its power rating, and not need expensive ancillary equipment to control it. And do it reliably in all types of conditions. So hence my Mantra KEEP IT SIMPLE, MAKE IT ROBUST, and importantly KEEP IT COST EFFECTIVE. 2. 'Tinker' has developed his own particular H Bridge Inverter. Uses a toroid.
3. 'Madness'has designed his own design of H Bridge Inverter, uses a toroid, and has moved towards using Mega/Arduino micros to control, and he loves writing code. He has also extended and designed new boards for GTI control on the PV. Although 'Oztules' concept, Madness has done a clever circuit that controls the PV before it goes into the GTI. ... (Note to self, Must contact Madness and get some Madness GTI PCB's to play with)
4. 'Warpspeed' Has done an Inverter that runs without the need of a large toroid. Its rather clever, and uses High frequency concepts that the Latest GTI's high frequency GTI's are using. If I recall there is a working Power limit on each circuit. interestingly 'Midnite' in the US, are at this very moment about to launch Beta units on a range of Inverters and GTI's that use a non toroid design and High Frequency switching. They will stack there individual circuits to obtain a good power output. The other day a few friends and i worked out that with all their engineers on the task since 2015, we reckon they have invested about $14,000,000
There are others on this forum that are perusing there own designs.
I have seen several posts where PV is being used direct to load, on here and on 'Fieldlines', however getting a good consistent powerful output of 240vac or 120vac that has good stable 50HZ or 60HZ is not so easy.
If you want to pursue this way I feel sure that many helpful folk on here will assist.
At present I am writing the 2nd Edition, about 3/4 done, of the 'How to make a 6kW OzInverter' and the renewable energy systems at a cost effective level. Its based around our own 'New Boards' and shows the complete making process and is a complete re-write. I have tried to be more explicit in the 'how to make' process, and leave the real technical explanations for the large tech Chapter. Many hundred's of OzInverters have been built and are working around the World, and that's brilliant !. hats off to 'Oztules'
I am not a business to make money on this, i just want my expenses back. I am here to encourage other folk who have a need and have some fundamental knowledge of making things.
Hopefully the above is about right.? Everything is possible, just give me time.

Yes i have seen the 'poidas' nanoverter works, and i will mention it, can you point me to some photos of the completed and working machine please?
I will also talk about 'Gaspo's' shoot through work, see photo, and other contributors.
Everything is possible, just give me time.

Im unaware of any photos of working units.. you will have to ask poida... I think it works !! |
