Hi Forum mates, I have some 95mm multistranded welding cable ... Do any of you know of "bootlace" terminations that will suit this size cable ? Up to 35mm are available on e bay ,but the 95mm range of cable must use another form of dressing for fuse blocks and equipment termination . getting back into some workshop work again ,,,, been fairly crook this last year .. Didn't someone on here make there own terminations out of some copper tubing? They flattened an end and drilled a hole for the mounting bolt to go through it. |

I must confess I have quite a few of them around the place, a few layers of flattened out copper pipe works as a bus bar too. There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't. |

Thanks for the replies... Some. People have made terminations out of copper water pipe ,but what I,m talking about are those ,boot lace type ferrules for crimping the ends of large diameter cables ,. They usually have a ,pin, on the end ,so you can fit the cable end neatly into a small hole with a grub screw ,usually provided in circuit breakers, terminal blocks,Etc. I,m talking about 95mm size cable ,,,,inverter to battery bank leads. John, yep, my W7. Conversion is running ,must be 18 months now ,perfect,no fan, silent, draws about 20 Watts on standby. .I,m happy with the hard work it took to convert, but would recommend flexible welding wire next time for the DC feed winding. Have the small meters for voltage,Amps ,in and out , but haven,t got aroundtoit. Yet,lol. I,ll post some stuff about my 2Kw. Exmork project soon ,,got cancer of the bladder, minor, but into hospital and get nasty proceedure every six months , so , I,m not as active as 10 years ago .. Bruce. Bushboy |

95 mm crimped lugs will probably need a hydraulic crimping tool. If you only need a few I suggest as other posts, get some copper tube and flatten it, cut 1/2 way through and roll up the end that has to go in the fuse holder. If its hard - get the copper red hot and quench it to anneal it. Tin the copper before bending it around an appropriate mandrel then solder it up. If you have access to a lathe turn them from solid The spindle of an old brass tap may be big enough. Jeff |
