Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Is there any reason you can't use enamelled aluminium wire when rewinding a toroid for use as an inverter instead of copper? Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

Only reasons to avoid it would be it has a higher resistance than copper wire, so has less current capacity and will get hotter quicker than copper. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

You would need to use thicker wire also. If you get some of those Aero Sharps you will get heaps of wire from them. There are only 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't. |
