Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

On my OzInverter, 48v, 15kW boards, I definitely need that 3 wire fan connected in. On Test At 42c the fan came on and kept things stable.

On test I shut down the inverter, removed the fan connection, re started the OzInverter and at 42c the PJ board stopped the Inverter, No Fan.

On my No2 BigOzInverter, My modification to a 50mm x 50mm 3 wire fan motor, although it had 3 wires, and sold as a 3 wire fan, one did not connect to anything. That's the Oz recommended 2k2r resistor on the fan pulse motor.

The pulses.......

The connections......

If yours works, great.

Thanks Clockman, very informative.

I'll try to open that 3 wire fan and see if it looks like the one in your pictures and perhaps modify it as shown above.

Mine are the 8Kw PJ boards, they were out of 15Kw ones (and they still are out of stock). Perhaps they programmed that fan differently on those boards.

I machined them from 12mm copper rod Mark.
also machined the insulating washers.

This is an old thread of my first inverter build you dug up there.
The two new inverters also use machined copper rod terminals. But they are fitted in a plastic back plate with brass nuts & washers.

Copper is a bitch to cut a thread on, make sure you machine it a bit undersize if you are planning to do something similar. Also, back the die off every quarter turn to avoid long swarf clogging it up and ruining your thread.

This inverter is now sitting here unused, anybody in Perth WA offering me a good price for it? All in good working order, 48v version of 8KW PJ electronics inside plus home wound toroid as per pictures above.
