A photo of what I am using to replace my incandescent globes.

top left Philips LED 14w 3000K 1055lumen (warm white) I would prefer the 6500K 14w 1400 lumen version but it is quite scarce ATM in the B22 style

top right Philips LED 9w 6500K 806 lumen (cool daylight) 150 degree beam spread a good all-rounder this is the one I use in the majority of ceiling fittings.

bottom left Philips tornado CCFL 24w 1550 lumen good for office or kitchens but will cast a shadow from a persons body on desks or benches facing the wall.

bottom right cheapy halogen globe 53w these go in the places that are not switched on for long periods of time. they dont last very long in a fitting that is in fairly constant use.

I generally keep a lookout for these globes on sale. I have tried quite a few lower wattage CCFL's and not been happy with the flicker, poor light output and short life. However things are always changing.

Any other suggestions?


I'm confused, no wait... maybe I'm not...

I've just put the Philips CFL's in our place. Warm white (3500K I think although it's not listed on the box) but once warmed up they out out a heap of light. Good for old eyes :-)

Your bottom right also do not like getting bumped. A bit of a knock and it's out for the count.
