Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi,

This message has also been placed at the Picaxe forum as I am desperate. I need to get this board working as the mill depends on it. The technical person has suggested the jumper settings as a possible culprit, but the board worked under XP OK. What I have done to the board was soldered terminal blocks to the "holes" and I will have to check if I made a mistake there.

Old proto board, had 28X (PIC16F873A-1) installed and as there was a message re outdated PIC I installed a 28X2 (PIC 18F25K22) chip into this old proto board. My first mistake as the message did not relate to the 28X, it is still supported.

Used old RS232 to stereo plug cable that came with this proto board. Windoze 7 claims the COM1 port is OK. Settings on the Windoze side are 4800,8,1,N. Is this what the board expects?? Manual does not give a clue what the settings should be. Second mistake, the settings are automatic according to Mr "Technical".

Now it does not see the hardware. 28X2 was sold to me with two bent legs as if someone already had a good fiddle with it. I am aware of static electricity. Am using the battery pack that came with the proto board for power. Reads 4.76V.

Any suggestions apart from throwing it out? Board worked under XP with the 28X. Will press the 28X back into it and see if it works. If I can read "PICAXE-40X" on the board, then I hope I pressed the 28X2 in the right way??

Thanks.

Dom,

Im not sure of your question exactly?

Have you selected the right com port in PE under Options.

Have you selected the right picaxe chip in PE under Options.

If the chip has been programmed before it might have locked out a new udate program being downloaded, to solve this a "hard reset" is required, this simply involves switching the power off to the picaxe board, then click the porgram button in PE to start a new program download, then switch the power onto the picaxe board, the program should download.

You do realize code written for a 28x chip will need changes made before it can be installed into a 28x2 chip.

Perhaps email me your full code and i will have a look through it for you.

Pete.
