First up thanks to RossW, as I now have 24x EnerSys 2T500/2 500Ahr cells.
I bought these from 63ute on eBay after seeing your posting on the ones you bought.
http://myworld.ebay.com.au/63ute if looking for great deals on batts.

Now, all I can find on the EnerSys site is the info on discharging the cells.
I cannot find any specific info on charging other than a float charge of 2.265Vpc @ 25degC.
I intend to use the Outback 48V inverters with this setup, what should I be setting the charge to?
What about equalisation? Bulk, absorb etc?
Are these more like a gel cell, where you just set them for 13.8V and leave? I know the AGM's
hate the sort of high voltages that a wet cell can absorb.

Help much appreciated.

PS: I have some experience with this stuff and I'm an old school electronic tech by trade.

It should work ...in theory

Thanks RossW,

if I read it right, fast charging for a 500Ah cell
would be 0.1 to 0.125 times capacity:
0.1 x 500 = 50amps
0.125 x 500 = 62.5amps

This would be done at 2.40Vpc for 10-15hrs max,
and only once a month.

I also figure that it would require about 0.08 to 0.1
times capacity for normal charging. 40-50amps.

That should suffice. I'm planning on about 2kW of
solar for now, and a few large wind gens in final
location. With Outback hardware in control this
strict regime should be easy enough.

Mick, I've already sent Trev a query on Panels, so I'll give you the same option (I'd like to support the locals if I can)...

I had a couple of panels stolen early this week (NOT HAPPY!)

I'm looking for some panels for my 48V system, but a bit cash-strapped at the moment. Looking for "best bang for buck" and ideally something I can expand later. To this end, considering two 210W/24V panels. Would consider 12V panels if price was competetive enough.

Can contact me via the board, or ph 0409-578-660 tks.
