Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

LOL Ben, I have blown up more stuff than the US airforce.

Please, please don't look to me for solid advice.

No way in hell could I have got my machines running without assistance.
I have been very fortunate to make friends with Madness, Poida and Warpspeed.
Being able to call/visit these guys is the reason I have anything running.

BTW, I do not think epoxying the NTC sensor to the heat sink is a good idea. Use a clamp (miniature saddle like those to hold a cable) and heat sink grease to attach it.
Any equipment I ever took apart *never* used epoxy to attach that sensor.

What many of the commercial products do is epoxy the temperature sensor (and the ends of its attaching wires) into the barrel of a crimp lug. Then bolt the lug down onto the heatsink.

Its neat, very robust, easily replaced, and the copper lug provides excellent thermal contact.
Cheers,  Tony.

I knew I was leaving somebody out madness also gives very good advice

Renewablemark no one person can know everything if so there would be no use for this site

You underestimate yourself your advice is very thought out and precise advice it doesn't matter if you came up with it yourself or learned it from someone else on this site

My whole point is in a world of greed and Corruption and everyone thinking of nothing but their selves

On this site you got a lot of really good people that actually get joy out of helping other people at no cost to the person being helped so the people on this site get paid a lot of money for what they give freely here

If Only They can get us newbies to listen now that's a whole other story some people got to learn the hard way LOL

But the 'hard way' is soooo much more fun BANG! Oh well, start again .

Seriously, a great many things asked here recently have been thrashed out on this forum in the past, so if only the newbies would find the time to read all the old posts for their question (this might take quite a few cups) and possibly get side tracked reading related info (I did) while at it, a lot more could be gained than from a question or two asked now.

If something is still not fully understood after doing that, then asking a supplementary question (including an abbreviated quote of the post concerned - try to make that quote relevant and not include pictures unless essential) then by all means ask now.

When I started this inverter building thing, now a few years ago, it was suggested a good way to start is by reading all the posts of oztules (on otherpower forum) on this subject.
These posts ran to around 60 pages back then.

I read all of them, took me around a week worth's of evenings and never regretted spending that time. After that, inverter building was still like jumping in at the deep end but at least I knew how to swim by then .

I have read off and on for a couple years and I remember reading something but I can't remember where it's at

Cantt go back and read it because I can't find it there might already be a solution to this that I just don't know aboutEdited by BenandAmber 2019-04-15

Why not use the "search" button at the forum page header?

Another mod that I would suggest is to connect a small 12volts relay to the fan output.

Relay added (the little black box with the red strip).

Now waiting for another chinese inverter to arrive before I add the temp. mod suggested above. This one runs the kitchen therefore can't take it out of service without backup.

Poida,

Maybe you could have avoided your grief if you had added this mod

I have a 5 inch computer fan very close to the heat sinks.
The board is mounted vertically with the fan at the bottom.
At first I thought the failure was due to the fan not working, but no.
Just too much power.
I use a mosfet to switch the fan, driven directly from the fan control output of the EGS002.

Sorry. What I meant was the resistor-pot combination to switch on the fan at a desired temperature.

I must commend you on your monitoring and data logging system. Its a real wowster. Have you documented it somewhere. I need to clone it.

regards

The logging system is detailed a bit in this post I made

If you want more info and help, maybe be can continue the discussion over in that thread (don't want to take over Ben and Amber's discussion here)
