For anyone thinking of buying a stm32 "BluePill" board I would could consider this product.

robotDyn BluePill

I haven't bought one yet, but the referrals from this sources has impressed me.
stm32duino - robotDyn Bluepill topic

I had to repair my first and only BluePill. I have ordered another from Aliexpress before I found this.

BTW, the two product are the same hardware, the more expensive one has the USB boot loader done for you. And go for the UN soldered pin headers - they're no trouble.

Hope this helps

Guys
Don't use R1 on 2019-Feb version PCB. It has the USB line PA12 pulled up to 5v where it should be pulled up to 3.3volts. My error was to follow the error on the BluePill schematic.

The USB mod to the bluePill (which is fixed on the robotDyn boards I believe)

is to either change R10 (smd) on the Bluepill to 1k5 OR add a 1k8 on top of the BluePill

When I first started using the BluePill, not that long ago, I found that getting all the info together was slow, or out-dated or just confused between the different cores available.

I did a quick how-to. Blue Pill setup Wiki

I received 2x BluePill from the Sincere Company Store on Ali and both boards have the correct 1.5k USB pullup to 3v3, so I don't believe a mod will be needed? Have not flashed it yet

However, I have a question:

If I connect an external 3v3 power source to the 3v3 pin on the board while making sure neither the 5V pin nor the USB port was connected, could I end up damaging the board anyways (or perhaps the LDO)?

I ask because the tiny 3v3 LDO on board looks underspecified and it would be easier for me to power this board over 3v3 than 5v

If desoldering out the tiny 3v3 LDO on board would help, I can do that, but I dont prefer it as it might make programming the STM32 over USB/HID difficult

I can ask this question on a different thread since it's not directly relevant to this project

The 3v3 reg will be fine. For the purposes of programming the Boot Loader you can power it from either 3v3 or 5v.

FYI, if you are powering it from the USB, just omit the 5v/3.3v when connecting up the USB-Serial adapter.

Could you suggest which project (.ino) would be a good starting point?

Thanks,

Hi Dave
I need to get back to this project, I was waiting for parts for current sensing etc.
The latest version is on GitHub, InverterScope_ILI9486.
Libraries

I did try one of these but I found it to be very noisy compared to a plugpack transformer. Couldn't sync very well at all.

I want to try just the 2mA transformer without the active parts.

Cheers

Andrew

The 3.5" MCUfriend LCD has that driver. The Library by David Prentice should work with both. His repository is david prentice Github. I modified his library to work with my pin selections.

Hi Mack,

I would be interested in integrating this into a line of Power Jack inverters. Possibly for mass production. I would like to discuss some more details with you if possible.

Thank you very much

No worries GS

Its all there on Github - I am behind on finishing off the software. I have no problems with you guys freely using any or all of the work I've done. Just give back to the community

I am happy to help in any way I can.

Cheers

The hardware is complete (so far )

Like all things, my bare bones hardware may warrant changes to suit other circumstances.

The analogue input is basic, transformers and current sensors are all off board.

Cheers
