Hi, I was looking at the panel meters here (http://www.thebackshed.com/windmill/articles/PanelMeter.asp ), and found the article interesting. What I don't get is why aren't you using a LM7809 to power the displays? Why go to 5V just to bring it back up to 9? That inverter sure looks like something I should pull off a few network cards I have lying around, though... Steven T. Fahey |

Hi Steven The inverter is used because the displays need a isolated power supply. The inverter has a input voltage requirement of 5 volts. If we feed it the full battery voltage ( 12, 24, etc ), it will die a very quick and smelly death. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |
