Hello all,

I am new to the wind turbine community. It has been my dream for many years to contribute to the world of renewable energy. As a mechanical engineering student, I have been assigned to build a full-size wind turbine that has to generate 1 kW of power at 25 miles per hour. I know that might be a challenge, but I am looking for some initial advice.

My team and I have done research on NACA 0015 and GOE 222 airfoil blades. We like the characteristics of NACA 0015 better for power generation, but it costs an exorbitant amount of money to produce them. We found a company called OZEngineering in Australia that produces aluminum GOE 222 airfoil blades. Also, GOE 222 has a higher lift/drag coefficient, which is beneficial.

Do any of you people know anything about GOE 222 blades? Or does anyone have experience with ordering airfoil blades online? I would greatly appreciate any advice or research data you have.

Thanks!

Here is a link to an advert that OZ Wind Engineering had on the site recently, goes into lots of detail.

Advert-Oz Wind 2kW vs Exmork / Huaya 2kW

I ordered some GOE222 blades from Phill at OZ Wind Engineering end of last year and took less than 2 weeks for them to show up here in NZ. I don't have a wind turbine as yet to put them on.

Hope this is of some use.Edited by DaveP68 2017-08-10
There are realities if you do not accept, will lead to frustration because you will be spending time on wrong assumptions and the results cannot follow! The Dunning Kruger Effect :)
