I've come to the conclusion that it's possible to extract 1 kW peak power from a single F&P 36 pole copper stator wired Delta with a black rotor cap.

It requires an Inverter with say a 40-500 VDC input range running MPPT. This would suit a the wind turbine of say 2.8 m diameter set of blades with peak RPM of around 575 RPM to produce a peak output of around 1 kW.

These inverters are already available off the shelf for charging batteries or Grid Tie application and can also meet the AS4777 standards.

The main reason for bringing up this topic is that the efficiency of using only one stator produces more "accumulated watts per hour". this is due to less cogging and one lees stator than a dual set up.

Hope this is of interest to those who read it.

What kind of wind speed do you think might be needed to reach a tip speed of 84 meters per second ?

Thats a rotor tip speed of 302 Km/Hr or 187 MPH.

It's about 12.5 m/s wind speed which is 45.5 kph, so not too strong on the windy scale. It translates to Tip Speed Ratio of around 10 and the MPPT will keep things in check. It will produce power above this but I would suspect a good wind turbine set up would have the furling kicking in around this wind speed or slightly above.
