Hi Guys.

I was lucky enough to talk to Gizmo recently and he and i discussed multiple stator and rotor F & Ps. This was never going to be an easy job even with metal lathes and CNC machines and what ever but we both felt it could be done. Gizmo gave me an insight in to his idea and i will let Gizmo tell you about that one, and it is good nothing gizmo does is half baked. But i put in a good bottle of red for thought and have come up with a different idea for this situation. Taking into account that multiple units will need a very good blade setup, on very good and strong multiple bearings ( F & Ps are very heavy by themselves ) and each "set" would need to be balanced i think it can be done. I have drawn up a set of plans that i am trying to post but basically it involves using 4 shafts cutting them into stubs and by using a metal lathe drilling and tapping the centres. The other end of the shafts are untouched and are threaded into the female threaded holes we cut. The stators are mounted similar to Gizmos earlier windmill on steel plates two on each one. I dont think the unit would be more than a metre long plus tail but it would be heavy, but i think it would be capable of 2.4 kw in a very strong wind like i have at Murray Bridge. Gizmo if i have trouble posting the drawing is it ok if i might fax the plan to you and you might be able to post it for me.Yes this involves 4 male and 4 female threaded joins on the original shafts but they are very strong we will see if it works. I have 7 stators, rotors and shafts at the moment and will start physically on this unit within 2 weeks, remember guys this is 90% fun and 10% proof so it may need a bit of scrutinisation.

    Hi Bob . I have fiddled with 2X F&P twin set-up's. (Pictures are in my album, http://www.anotherpower.com/gallery/brucedownunder ).

The important point I noticed was that I could nearly cancel out the cogging by rotating one of the stators a small bit in either forward or backward direction.

The shafts , I machined them down to accomodate the second rotor , but being only experimental on my test bed , I didn't get them up in the real world. (have since "put them on hold" )

I like your idea and agree that Glenn would be a good help indeed.
