Trout,

Why don't you just rewire the stator and run the AC output through a 3 phase bridge rec to make DC and then you can charge your batteries Fast or Bulk stage ..... up to a point or if you are mucking around with stuffed batteries then no .

Its a lot less dangerous than playing with unprotected higher voltage AC.

And its.... Fisher Paykel

Hi trout

Electricity is dangerous stuff it makes a good slave but a bad opponent, it is better to learn at lower voltages, below 60 volts, but even that voltage can kill or inflict bodily harm under the wrong circumstances.

In answer to your question, yes you can, and is it dangerous, yes it is, and the conclusion drawn, is that, if you have to ask is it dangerous, shows that your skill level isn't up enough to play with high voltages, but do not despair because we can all learn new skills, so start with gaining experience and confidence at lower voltages that will not kill or maim even if we stuff up a bit.

Remember the golden rule to keep one hand behind your back.

All the best
