Hi, The holes for Glenn's hub are rather large and the standard 1" U-bolts I can buy at Bunnings are too small in dia. leading to the exhaust tubes not centering along the required axis. I suspect I have to go to a fastener place in WA and specifically what should I ask for? Do I need to ask for stainless steel ones for the strength? Thanks. Stainless steel bolts are not as strong, if you want strength specify high tensile steel. Any bolt shop should be able to help you and would be far cheaper than bunnings, they advertise they are cheaper but that is not true. Yeah what Madness said. The U-bolts are pretty important in that build, so buy the biggest you can that fit neatly over the 1 inch pipe, even if it means you need to enlarge or offset the through holes in the steel plate. From memory the thickness of the U-bolt was about 10mm in my case. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |
