Hi all, Read on a previous posting that an early Corolla/Corona tailshaft fits the FP shaft, but the local ripoff artist (auto wrecker) wanted $50 for a complete unit and would not sell the female end section separately. Tried a Suzuki/barina wheel hub but it is too large. Has anyone any other suggestions please? In other respects, have made excellent progress fabricating a version of Glenn's FP design on the Backshed site - but using the FP shaft and bearing set with the nylon/alloy housing skimmed in a milling machine to be a snug fit into 65 X 65 RHS. We drilled and tapped a 6mm bolt through the RHS into the nylon housing - it is not going anywhere. Essentially need only a hub to hold the vanes to complete the mechanical aspects of the job. G'day Alan, I did a thread on a prop hub at the end of last year. Check-it-out It uses the agitator spline and certainly is strong enough. The attachment ears are flat and this may not suit your blades though. I found it easy enough to make, spending most time on accurate marking out. But then again maybe thats just me. was working fine... til the smoke got out. Cheers Gill _Cairns, FNQ |

Hello Guys ,, Thanks to Dennis latham ,he was the researcher that found the auto spline.. Now,from my scrounging around at the auto wreckers,I found that most tail shafts(male spline end) ,,slide into the clutch plate (female spline )... So, find yourself a clutch installer, most auto mechanics do this work on a daily basis. Go ask for the relevant worn out clutch to be saved for you and ,whammo, there's your free female spline--just cut away the steel work around the spline ,or use it to attach your blades,whatever.. Happy hunting Bruce Bushboy |

Thanks Guys Both ideas are excellent solutions. Considering I have already paid significant money for the Suzuki brake assembly, the first option will be to try to swap it for a clutch with the right size spline. I'll try Gill's suggestion for the second unit - my engineering mate and I are building two - one for each of our bush homes Cheers Alan |

Hi, Another suggestion is to get the hub + connecting triangles laser cut. Just look at the extruded PVC prop thread as Glenn gives you a link to the files the laser cutter needs. That is, if you cannot find a cheaper alternative. Taxation as a means of achieving prosperity is like a man standing inside a bucket trying to lift himself up. Winston Churchill |
