Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

While reading some online news items I came across this news article about windmill design. Follow the link (if allowed to).

It would look like an over grown "Wall Mate' in your back yard. (wall mate is one of those plastic screw in plugs you use in a gyprock plaster wall to fit your screw into)
Sometimes it just works

I cannot really see the purpose of building such a huge structure with four tiny turbines.
Why not just one much larger turbine ?

Well if this correct "generate about 5 TIMES as much energy as usual" there must be some method in their madness.

The way I read it was that adding this giant screw thing makes those small turbines generate five times the power they normally would just by themselves.

No magic in that.

A bloody great funnel placed in front of a small wind turbine to increase airspeed would probably do much the same thing.
Cheers,  Tony.
