Hi How many amps would get produced when charging a battery. Is there a max limit?, how could you make more. Thanks |

Hi I'm trying to workout what wire size to use for that genny. I can put enough wire turns on it to get the voltage I want, but if I wire it with 17 awg wire, will it go over ten amps or even make one. Other axial designs use like 14/12 awg.. If I can't control the amps maybe use high voltage into a mppt, otherwise just charge a battery directly. |

It always pays to add a link to the post your talking about, otherwise we dont have a clue. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

That alternator of yours is a bit of a unknown, so your going to have to experiment and see what you can get out of it. Again, dont spend to much time on it, as there are a few "problems" with it that are going to limit its power output, as mentioned in the other post. I really do think you should start again with a standard design axial flux alternator, using your existing magnets, and you could expect 10 times the power that could be achieved with your current design, plus no cogging. 17AWG is good for about 3 amps in a coil, but that doesn't mean it will generate 3 amps, it depends on may factors.
