Hi,

I found this website searching for the MaxiMite computer and found out that i landed on a site that has much more info available that interests me greatly.

As i have a long time wish to be completely energy self sufficient the number of topics and solutions are overwhelming.

I did make some choices in what direction i want to research.
My main storage of energy i want to do in the form of pressured air and water lifted to a higher level. I would then be able to use the energy stored to provide rotational power through air pressure and a little electricity for lights by letting the water flow to a lower level.

The location is coastal on a dune with a lake about 10 meters lower with plenty of sunshine and almost always wind, although the wind is not that strong mostly 3-4 m/s. The air has a humidity of around 80-90% so there should be some power in there to drive a compressor.

What i am trying to find is some calculations to establish how much water needs to be pumped up to be able to use around 400 watts of electricity over an 8 hour timespan.

Also how much pressure and liters can be build up with a modest windspeed of 3-4m/s.
I like the combination of pumping water to a higher level and storing energy in pressured air because both solar and wind would be capable to do that.
I don't like batteries unless they are maintenance free and free of poisonous liquids and have a lifetime of 30 years or more. :)
I rather have a few big tanks, and simple pumps that can be easily repaired and maintained.

If anyone has some good links or even better practical experience for pumping water and building up and storing pressured air by using solar and wind i would be very happy.
