Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Nice work Shawn. Yeah for turbines that size you cant do much better than the chainsaw made blades When you get some figures let us know. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

That would be down to me then Starting from an Atmel Butterfly demo board and a couple of Dallas 1-wire chips its a controller and logger. Handles a dump load using a PWM signal to 'ease' the load on as the voltage rises and remote switches an inverter. The measurement side handles volts, current, (hence power), temperature, dump load, inverter status, maximum power in the last hour and day, state of charge, generator RPM and reports it all on the built in LCD display, outputs it to a serial port and stores it in dataflash once a minute for later serial download (about 2 weeks worth). Just finished an update to the website with the final schematic and PCB designs and the latest version of the software. You can find the info here Frackers mini controller - enjoy Robin down under - or are you up over |

Hi guys just a small update on performance had some good wind the last two days the controller should be going on this weekend. but I hooked up a shunt and 200 amp meter the mill liked to sit around 40 amps and spikes up to 70 at this point its folded up and droping back to around 40/50 amps into my 24v bank at the time at 26v so 1800 watt spike and happy at around 1kw. Im sure I could push it harder but there is no point its the big prop in the low wind im aming for. the alt makes a rumble when working hard prop is quiet my house is 40m away and inside with my head out the window I can hardly here it at full output. |

Hi Shawn Yeah good figures. Sounds like the furling is working well too. If your happy with the figures, I would leave it as is. If you get a chance, have a look at the stator to see if there are any signs of over heating. If it looks fine, then you have a good reliable windmill. Chances are you could get more power from it, but with more power comes more risk, and you could end up with toast.
