Hi,
Just wondering if I could get someone's definite answer on my previous question - all other variables aside, just the appropriate power output for my system as described.
Thanks in anticipation.

(I have just received a 42 pole F&P motor with shaft and bearings etc, and want to supplement my caravan solar power set-up with a wind generator. I currently run a 150 watt solar system through a MPPT Regulator (40 volt and 20 amp max) to a 250Ah battery.
I have read that the later model hub - 48 magnets instead of 56(which I have ordered) assists with reducing the cogging.
I would like to know what in your opinion would be the best set-up for me... ie, 7 Phase 1X6C, 2X3C, 3X2C or 6X1c, or something totally different?
I would like 12 volts, and obviously under the max of 20amps - thereabouts.
Regards, Smokey)

Hi Smokey

Can you point us to the previous thread?

Found it http://www.thebackshed.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=3641.

It all depends on how big you build your turbine, and what wind speed you are expecting. There is no definite answer I'm afraid. The results could be anywhere between 40 and 400 watts. Typically, if its a fast turbine, 2 to 2.5 meters, expect around 300 to 400 watts in a good wind. If you expect low winds, your better building a turbine with more low rpm torque, and you can expect 50 to 150 watts for more hours in the day. Its output might be lower, but it will give more watt hours in the end.

Hi Glenn,
Yep, I understand the conumdrum - but think I would be more inclined to expect the latter. I mean lower winds and from 50 to 150 watts.
So with more low RPM torque, what wiring config for the stator would you advise?
Thanks for your time too Glenn :)
