Hi all,

I am thinking of wiring like one of the following

1x 14poles series
http://www.thebackshed.com/windmill/images/42Pole1X14C.gif

or

2x 7poles series
http://www.thebackshed.com/windmill/images/42Pole2X7C.gif

I want to use for low speed

If I keep the STAR (joined ends) to an output wire
and use a RELAY to switch them to be shorted, or have them be connected to the 3 phases DELTA

it will allow me to have higher AMPS. and can use a rpm meter thats will switch the relay in higher winds

if this idea worth it?

My reason is I will be using a few 100Watt STEPUP Constant Voltage / Constant Current power supply. this way when it is producing only few volts it pumps amps to my batteries, after it hits 24v I will use relay to switch to DELTA and move the output to a cheap Charge COntroller for a solar panel about a 15A 24v. and another switch disconnect above 50v which in Charge controller's High point.

I want criticism and info about my plan

thanks everyone,
and thx for great comments to my last postEdited by toxsickcity 2011-05-31

Star/Delta automatic switches have been used but the results vary. The problems pop up when the windmill is hovering around the switching point, and you end up with it switching back and forth very quickly. The controller needs some brains, to make a smarted decision to switch state and some delay to stop it chattering. Point is, its not as easy as first thought.

At this stage, I would first run it as star and get everything working, then look into a star/delta controller once everything else is sorted.
