Hi sorry think im a bit thick went it comes to this I have asked several time in different ways but I still don’t grasp it.

I have built 3 mills now learning a lot along the way very good help from his site.
First 2 mills out of dc motors charging batteries very well charge controller from plans from this site my friend put together for me.

The next mill i have built out of a ceiling fan 160 little magnets later i have a mill that will give me around 50 v per coil at 1 amp.

I know i have to fit bridge rectifiers to change into dc this bit is working well.
Now the 101 bit i don’t understand and need to before building something bigger.
The power intake i see 500w 1000w 10k mils out and about.

The power generated from the unit do i have to match the voltage to system im using i.e dc moters max out around 35 v no lode so ok to charge batteries.

What / how do you control the power from bigger units? The power ramps 0 to whatever is it that the bigger units just provide more amps what do you do how do you control the excess voltage.

The ceiling fan i have made 50 v do i just make a 24 or 48 v set up or is their a better way i have looked at drop out relay after 18 v reached but wasting a lot of charge time.

What is the norm must be a better way

how exactly did you measure that? It matters.

Test your generator when it *is* connected to a battery and read up on battery charging in general.

Thanks for the input looks like i have a lot to read up on just starting up hard to get my head round some of it.

i got the 50 v from giving it a test spin the 1 amp came from the coli spec
I’m not bad at fabricating tinkering just need to know more about what and how to use the power generated efficiently and safely.

The 101 is the basics the things i should know before i started this tried to find a mentor to help me along but in the uk every one wants to be paid for anything.

Id just like to generate some power learn about it along the way i could just save up and buy something from wind and sola but what would be the point of that.

Id one day like to understand so i could wind my own coils position the correct size magnets control the power and run my home grid free or grid tye

A good place to start would be to send some money north and buy Hugh Piggott's book........http://www.scoraigwind.com/axialplans/index.htm/

I know, more reading but he does explain a lot, now just my personal experience but his earlier books were easier to understand, particularly for the uninitiated, in his latest book he explains several different mills in each paragraph, quite confusing, technical articles need to be written for the target audience, just my opinion.

If you wish to design your own mill then make sure you have a good understanding of basic electrical principals and magic smoke.

Power from a bigger mill is controlled by using a dump load, it will use up energy above what your batteries should safely receive.
