Hi guys i havnt posted in a while but thought i would share the newest news with my AXFX gen.

I seem to have much higher winds this winter and more days of them, And this made me unhappy with my dual AXFX ( 2 Stators 3 Rotors , 12 coils each stator and 22 magnets on each side of rotors ).
And 16 blades 8.5 ft , 2.5908 M dia.
At 32 MPH , 14.5 MS , 52 KMH , aprox 200 RPM I was only getting aprox 600 watts on my 24 volt system

So I took down gen and mounted it to my lathe with a belt drive and started to play with different wiring on stators, One stator I could not do any better and I Call that Stator 1( the coils moved around a litte when I poor the resin in that mold at the time I made it)

The second Stator I was able to improve Volts And Amps At Low And High RPMS By adding a 3 phase relay ( change it to 3 solid state relays latter )

Now my outputs with both stators and under load ( 24 volt System )

Relay On
48 Rpms .6 Amps 24 volts 14.4 Watts
77 Rpms 2.6 Amps 24.3 volts 63 Watts
116 Rpms 5.5 Amps 24.8 volts 136 Watts
Switch Relay Off
180 Rpms 14 Amps 27 volts 378 Watts
296 Rpms 32 Amps 33 volts 1056 Watts
Stall Lathe At higher Rpms

And I bought A cheap Set of 3 Fiber Glass Blades 10.5 ft,3.2 m.

Put the gen back up yesterday and haven’t had much wind over 10 Mph , 4.5 ms ,16 kms, but good results compared to before. 273 watts at 14 mph , 6.5 ms , 23.4 kms.

Hi Windman 1000

Your numbers are much better now, But reaching cut in speed at 46 rpm may cause your blades to stall. You might need a big wind to break them lose. Most try for a cut in speed of 150 RPM.

Thanks gs and Ron

gs Im Pushing my luck as it is just having this mill here with out any complaints, so no it cant go any hire up, wish i could.

Ron
normally this is a very low wind valley and iv always used multi blades and low cut in to get power.
now this winter we have had alot of very good windy days so i went to the 3 blade and the option of low cut in 40 rpm or a higher cut in of 90 rpm by switching a relay on or off, im hoping that 3.2 m blades wont stall at 90 rpm cut in but if they do il just do some rewiring on Stator 2.

in the near future i want to make a new stator1 so i can get some real power out of it too.

Hi windman

I was not sure if you were aware of the stalling problem. Sound like you have it covered.

It seems like the whole world is out of sync. we have had double the snow this winter, than normal. but "less winds" and crazy amount of clouds. so we had a very poor amount of re power so far.
