hi ya all   i use apc smartups of various sizes [600-1500va]as a super cheap 24v pure sine wave inverters.i get them off the local tip for 10 to 20 gold coins all have come to life no probs.they get dumped because of dud batts.rack mount units are best with built in cooling fans but tower jobs can be cooled with 2 small pc fans wired in series.a 1400va powers up my 410 litre fridge and 7kg a/washer machine and has done so for 1 yr.

Hi Matt,
where's that tip?
All the buggers around here won't sell or let anything go outside the tip
A bit of a waste when stuff could be reused

Hello Matt, I've 2 Emerson and 3 APC's - but don't have the software to adjust the output voltage -. Anyone out there have this software . My voltage on a couple of them sits around 190v ,so I would like to adjust them a bit.

Also, I have an ex telecom 2500 watt ups that operates on a 96 v dc supply --.Anyone out there with clues how to operate this from my 24v batt ???

hi bruce   talked to sis last night and the disc plus user manual were in the ups where the batts go,what a bonus, shill post to me on friday so ill get back to you when ive burnt a copy.in regards to a tacho for your mill a car magnetic ignition system would work with a 12v voltage reg,2 or3 weld spots on the blade shaft would trigger the magnetic pick up coil,2 spots for a 4 cyl tacho or 3 for a 6 cyl and mount the electronics up on the poll with only 2 wires coming down for the tacho, the unit can be powered like adelaides magnetic clutch drive.a sigma or valiant system would do    bye
